Situated in a private nature reserve, Fairmont Zimbali Lodge is a sanctuary on Natal's Dolphin Coast. The design offers rooms with stunning views of the Indian Ocean, large cool verandas and elegant interiors of stone, wood, and earth tones inspired by the gorgeous natural surrounding areas. Zimbali Lodge is home to a wide range of activities and provides a great base from which to discover the region's myriad of marine and birdlife.

Put on your tennis shoes, splash out in the pool or browse through the Logo Shop. More adventurous activities include deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, and dolphin tours. Alternatively, enjoy horse rides, beach and forest walks, bird watching and after a long day of fun, relax in the health and beauty spa with a massage or spa treatment.

Facilities

The Fairmont Zimbali Lodge has a long list of facilities to keep you entertained, and if you do need anything simply call your private butler who will take care of your needs.

Book a tee-off time on the 18-hole golf course, play a game of tennis on all-weather, floodlit courts, take a dip in one of the five swimming pools, or walk along the 3km secluded beach - other facilities include a gym and a health spa.

Guests can also enjoy access to mountain bike trails, deep-sea fishing trips, scuba diving, dolphin tours and much more.

Dining

The Restaurant and Fountain Court changes its menu daily to enable the chef to select the freshest available produce and prepare the most delicious, gourmet cuisine.

Enjoy the table d'hôte spread at Zimbali Lodge's colonial-style restaurant or relax on the terrace where every dish is complemented by the vista.

Enjoy a nightcap in the Lounge, or head for The Trophy Bar, overlooking the golf course's 14th fairway and the Indian Ocean - the ideal spot for light lunches and, later on, sundowner drinks.

Fairmont Room

The Fairmont Zimbali Lodge has 76 guest rooms of four different types: Fairmont Rooms, Fairmont View Rooms, Lodge Suites, and Lodge View Suites. Situated in the tranquil forest, the Fairmont Rooms are a mix of traditional African decor and Victorian-era furnishings.

The en suite bathroom features a claw-foot bathtub with a separate shower, and the bedroom has a king-size bed. Step through the sliding doors onto the private balcony to earn yourself views of the forest.

Other Room Types

The Fairmont View Rooms are similar to the Fairmont Rooms and have air conditioning, satellite TV and a balcony with stunning views. The difference lies in the views: the Fairmont View Rooms look out over the golf course, lagoon, or the Indian Ocean.

Offering stunning views of the nature reserve, the Lodge Suites have a lounge area and separate en suite bedroom. The bathroom has a Victorian bath with a separate shower. These suites have two large balconies that showcase the view of the surrounding forest.

Similar to the Lodge Suites and also featuring air conditioning and satellite TV, the Lodge View Suites only differ in their views. These suites have views of the golf course, lagoon, or Indian Ocean.

  • Zimbali Lodge was a good surprise: even if it was a huge complex, the staff were really friendly, helpful and very kind with the kids. The food was fabulous and we enjoyed the calm of the area and the pool. The room was not very spacious with the extra bed for Claire and the cot for Thomas but it was comfortable and nice.
