Traveller Reviews

  • Tanda Tula was wonderful! The staff made Charlene and I feel part of the "Tanda Tula Family" from the moment we arrived. Our game drives were awesome!!! The food was nothing short of gourmet!

  • Tanda Tula - very nice. Managers/partners were particularly nice. Tents were nice. Could do with a facelift - but then again they are 4 stars. Quite cold at night - could do with a heater but they did supply lots of blankets. Walks with Jacob were great. Animal experiences were great and the people were very nice.

  • Tanda Tula and Shussi & Chuma were both an experience never to be forgotten - the whole concept of the camp and tree houses was amazing and both extremely well organised.

  • You suggestions were excellent. We loved Tanda Tula instantly. The tent was a glamorous one but more than that the staff were amazingly friendly and the atmosphere very relaxed and delightfully communal. We loved the owners' political commitments. The other guests were a fascinating bunch and we all got on famously. And, of course, the outings were amazing. We were very happy with the ranger who knew a great deal and was very pleased to point out the birds as well which is what I and some others wanted. We had some fantastic sightings. I particularly liked picking up a chameleon but the high spot was probably the leopard and oldish cub on both days of sighting. On the second, it had climbed into a dead tree with its kill, and the impala legs were dangling down, getting the marauding hyenas excited. We got so close, seeing the red meat. There was so much I could report on, and I musn't forget the 14 lions, including the white lion group, and the 4 5 month old cubs we found snuggling together while mum went out hunting. They were adorable, especially when they sat up and one yawned looking as though he was trying out a fierce roar. It's all on camera! Oh and the wild dogs and the wart hogs on the camp lawn … All this was a hard act to follow and we left for Sabi Sands wondering if we might be 'overdoing' the safari bit - but no!!

  • The safari camps and game drives were an incredible experience. A bit more luxury at Tanda Tuula, but wonderful coziness and hospitality at Notten's. Food was excellent at both places, and they both knew about and met my dietary restrictions with no problems. At both locations we saw all of the Big 5 several times over, as well as a cheetah and a glimpse of a pack of wild dogs (in Sabi Sands), so 'almost' the Magnificent 7, and of course zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and everything in between. Our wildlife photos are gorgeous.

"I am a huge fan of this safari camp, the oldest in the Timbavati Reserve. It is completely unfenced, merging Hemingway style safari elegance with the natural environment."
