Another unforgettable way to start the morning in the Masai Mara is with a hot-air balloon safari. A walking safari, guided by the experienced and qualified naturalist, will have you learning all about the environment, while a visit to one of the traditional Maasai villages will give you the chance to learn more about their fascinating culture.

The bar tent is open-sided and opens out onto a spacious deck that overlooks the Mara River and the vast plains beyond.

Dining

Both breakfast and lunch at Governor's Camp are served on the shady riverbank with views across the Mara's plains. After your early morning game drive, you'll return to a breakfast buffet cooked over the coals and accompanied by hot croissants, exotic fruits, and freshly-brewed Kenyan coffee.

Lunch is also buffet-style, this time featuring roast meats, fresh salads and delicious desserts. Dinner is served in the candlelit dining tent and offers a stylish, 4-course meal, with a grand selection of main courses. After dinner you can sip cocktails around a bonfire, and chat about your day's sightings.

Superior Tent

Each of the 37 luxury tents offer uninterrupted views over either the Mara River or the endless Masai Mara plains, both of which are a memorable sight to enjoy first thing in the morning. Each tent is spacious and comfortable and has an en suite bathroom with hot and cold running water and flush toilets.

  • Wonderful people in the camps, the camps showed the different parts of the area and terrain. I was a little nervous going by myself but everyone was watching out for me. The managers at the camps were lovely to me and made sure I had everything I needed. Food was outstanding!!!

  • Very fine establishment. The service was excellent and the food and the fishing very good. Our fishing guide was great, showing us several fish eagles and throwing them fish so that they would swoop down to pick it up while we watched and photographed.

  • This was amazing - the best service we ever experienced. The move to main Governors was very easy and not a big deal at all. I would say that I preferred the intimacy of Little Governors - the boat across to it made it seem very special indeed!!
