Boasting a stunning mountain backdrop, Mont Rochelle Hotel is set in the beautiful vineyards of the Franschhoek Valley, providing a quiet retreat only an hour's drive from Cape Town. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with elegant chandeliers, tasteful furniture and large windows to frame the views. Keen walkers have a choice of several mountain and vineyard trails, or you can explore the wine estate by horseback or mountain bike.

With its focus on good food and wine, Mont Rochelle offers two delicious dining options. The fine-dining restaurant, Mange Tout, is a superb dining experience where dishes made in the classic French tradition are complimented by local wines. Alternatively, eat a relaxed alfresco lunch or dinner at The Country Kitchen, located at Mont Rochelle’s tasting room.

A well-equipped gym – complete with sauna and jacuzzi - is available to work off all that fine food, wine and cheese if you overindulge at Mont Rochelle.

Horseback and mountain bike excursions are also offered, or you can just lounge around the swimming pool during the hot summer months and soak up the glorious views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards.

Various vineyard-inspired treatments, indulgent massages and beauty treatments are available from Mont Rochelle’s Wellness Centre but don't forget to visit Mont Rochelle’s own cellar and tasting room to try the various white and red wines made on the estate.

Gourmet wine pairings are a fun way to experiment with different flavours. The hotel's concierge will be happy to recommend and book wine tasting and cellar tours, rounds of golf, helicopter trips, Cape Peninsula tours and transfers.

Dining

Mont Rochelle's fine-dining restaurant, Mange Tout, is the perfect place to round off a day in the stunning Cape Winelands. This elegant restaurant offers world-class cuisine, great wines produced on the farm itself, and mesmerising vineyard views to accompany your meal. For a more relaxed, Mediterranean approach to dining, The Country Kitchen offers outdoor dining areas overlooking vineyards - a great venue to enjoy a glass of the cellar's own fine wine. The Country Kitchen will also pack you a delicious picnic basket that you can take with you to enjoy at a pretty spot on the estate - under the trees, next to the dam or in the fragrant rose garden. End your day with pre-dinner drinks and canapés at the Bar. The Bar also serves light meals until 6pm as well as hot chocolate and biscuits in front of the roaring fire in winter.

Standard Room

Mont Rochelle Hotel has 16 rooms and six suites, all of which offer lovely views of the ever-dramatic Franschhoek scenery. The rooms are individually decorated and boast luxurious details such as soft towelling bathrobes, down pillows and a choice of single or king-size beds.

  • Absolutely gorgeous. We actually skipped dinner on our first night because we fell asleep after eating to much at La Petite Ferme for lunch, but the place was wonderful and everyone was so friendly, and again, the food was unreal.

  • The Mont Rochelle hotel in Franschhoek was fantastic. Such a pretty setting sitting up there on the hill. We did a horseriding wine tasting which I would recommend as something unusual to do. The guy who took us was very knowledgable and I dont really ride but felt comfortable on the horse. We ate at the 2 restaurants in the hotel each night and the food was very good.
