The Marine Hermanus is a spectacular Relais & Chateaux property set up high against the cliffs overlooking Walker Bay in Hermanus. Dining

The Pavilion offers breathtaking views of the ocean and some of the finest dining in South Africa. Combining the finest South African ingredients with hints of the Mediterranean and the East, executive Chef Peter Tempelhoff has been showered with both local and international accolades and awards, and the wholly enchanting dining experiences that he creates are certainly not to be missed.

Inspired by owner Liz McGrath’s visit to the Harrod’s seafood counter, the hotel's other restaurant - Seafood at the Marine - has a warm and inviting atmosphere, is stylishly decorated, and serves ocean-fresh seafood. For a relaxing drink, visit the Sun Lounge - a stylish cocktail bar and lounge, open to both hotel residents and local visitors - or simply choose a bottle of wine from the floating wine cellar, stocked with some of South Africa’s best wines, to enjoy at your leisure.

The Marine Hermanus incorporates fresh colours and luxurious fabrics into its 42 individually decorated bedrooms and suites - each with air conditioning and under-floor heating, a mini bar and en suite bathroom.

  • Nice sleepy town, and shark diving was great. We didn't have the best of luck with the sharks because apparently the water is very cold in the summer (who knew?), but it was still a thrilling adventure. I wonder if it might have been easier for us to just stay in Cape Town and go on the excursion. It did work out well, however, as we found the Marine hotel absolutely lovely, and we were only there for 2 nights.
