overview

Little Vumbura is a small and intimate six-room camp located on a forested island between the deep, permanent channels of the northern Okavango Delta. Sitting in a private reserve bordering the legendary Moremi Game Reserve, this remote and untouched area is home to a diverse array of wildlife and the camp itself can only be reached by boat. Little Vumbura offers both water and land safari activities but due to its island location, game viewing at

Little Vumbura is often done on motorboat and mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions but there are plenty of opportunities to explore open woodlands and floodplains on 4X4 game drives - the area is noted for its large populations of lion, elephant, leopard and buffalo. Alternatively, spend the day relaxing at camp: sit on the reading deck, around the swimming pool or simply enjoy the views from your bed or private veranda.

Facilities

Decorated in soft blues, the airy open-sided lounge area is a peaceful place to watch passing animals - and if there's one you can't identify or you fancy a quiet read, find a book in the camp's reference library and wander down the wooden walkway to a private spot overlooking the floodplains.

Little Vumbura's dining area and bar are separated from the main lodge but are close to the raised campfire which is a great spot for stargazing.

The swimming pool is a welcome place to spend a hot summer afternoon lounging on shaded day beds, and there is a small curio shop for you to buy some gifts to take home.

Traveller Reviews

  • PHENOMENAL guides at Little Vumbura (our guide was Sevara) and we LOVED having the "honeymoon" suite with the lovely outdoor bathtub. The guide made SUCH a difference - we had no idea how important that was!

  • 2 thumbs way up for Little Vumbura and Wilderness Safari's. Their staff was so friendly and personable. Our guide K was such an expert and found 4 out of the big 5 for us. The only thing we didn't see was the rhino, which wasn't in that area. We know it must be the mission statement for wilderness safari's as a firm, because we visited their offices in Maun after our trip, and even there they were friendly, personable, offered us drinks and allowed us to sit in their cool a/c offices while we waited for our flight (which was late). We would definitely book with them again...and with you. Very good job.
