overview

Situated on what was for almost 30 years a dry grassy plain in the southern part of the Linyanti Concession, Savuti Camp now finds itself on the banks of the now-flowing Savuti Channel. Always an area of great wildlife sightings, the presence of permanent water has tranformed the area of Savuti, also spelled Savute, into possibly one of the best game viewing destinations in Southern Africa. Expect large numbers of elephant plus many species of antelope and classic African animals such as giraffe, buffalo and warthog.

There's a summer season zebra migration that passes through the area and the bird watching is fantastic but the ace up the sleeve is the abundance of predators - lion, spotted hyena, cheetah, leopard, wild dog and jackal are all commonly sighted. Activities at Savuti Camp include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, close-up game viewing from hides, night drives and walks with an armed guide.

Traveller Reviews

  • It was unbelievable.. The itinerary was great.. we got to see such variations. Kim and I would both agree that Savuti was our favourite camp. We did a full day safari there and the morning was quiet.. well quiet in terms of cats but after lunch we saw a leopard waiting at a warthog hole patiently, then we were on our way back to camp and stopped for a break and heard a lion call so we rushed over and it was a female with her two two month old cubs.

  • Savuti is a nice camp and has good accommodation. The camp has great wildlife and the staff were all very nice.

  • The room at Savuti was easily the most spectacular of the three. There was no outdoor shower but a nice, large indoor one. The main areas of camp, the dining and lounge areas were also the most beautiful of the three camps.

    Deborah Heystek, August 2009
  • The accommodations were first class, and the food wasexcellent. The guides at the camps were unbelievable, especially at Savuti.

"Set on the banks of the Savute Channel, you simply cannot find a better location in the Linyanti Concession. With large elephant herds often bathing for hours in front of the camps main deck, its difficult to think of a better place to view these impressive beasts."
