overview

An elegant camp, Mowani Mountain Camp lies in an area of astounding beauty and is discreetly built high up among massive red granite boulders in the heart of Namibia's Damaraland. It's a vast unspoilt wilderness area and home to spellbinding views and far more wildlife than the rocky terrain suggests.

You can expect an array of exciting adventures and wildlife activities at Mowani. Go on guided drives in search of the elusive desert-adapted elephant or hike through the magnificent landscape to discover its details. You can also explore the historic rock art site at Twyfelfontein and enjoy the rare sight of more than 2 500 Bushman engravings and paintings - probably the finest example of rock engravings in Southern Africa.

Traveller Reviews

  • We didn't stay in the morning and left for the mountain camp which was brilliant!!! would go back in a flash and it was beautiful. They landscape and surrounding areas were so interesting, really great hosts and a wonderful way to end the trip. They sent box lunches with us on our drive back to Windoek, so that was great.

  • Mowani really was in a league of its own - that place is simply amazing!

  • We had great time in Mowani and in Wolwedans. The tented camp was excellent. All people that we meet were very professional and very gentle with us.

    Ignacio Azinovic, September 2009
  • It was stunning, really special - favourite place. Fantastic staff, excellent service (the best from anywhere), good food, everything quality, best sundowners overlooking the valley on top of the boulder. Did you tell them we were on our 'honeymoon'? :) We got that lovely honeymoon tent with the stunning bathroom, on the second night they set our table outside under the stars!

    Nevine Hunt, August 2009
  • It was quite an amazing place hidden away in the mountains, perfectly blending in with the scenery but so luxurious! I think to do full justice to it we needed to spend more than one night there.

    Guy Kent, May 2009
  • A great location, wonderful and unique environment and great service. Seeing the desert elephants was great. We got quite close.

    Catherine Loggin, March 2009
  • Mowani Mountain Lodge was absolute magic. The setting is magnificent, the rooms spectacular and the staff outstanding. Activites including successful tracking of desert elephant and hiking tours were excellent. My highest recommendation for them.

    Andrew Lata, July 2008
  • What a location! The most amazing scenery on top of the bolders, with the most incredible views!

    Volker Kurze, June 2008
  • Mowani was the most special place that we have every visited.

    Stephen Gadd, February 2008
  • What a shame we could only get one night in here - probably the best lodge we stayed at - fantastic views and brilliant sunset amongst the red granite boulders. We also had a good safari drive here tracking and finding the Desert Elephants and also saw Cheetah (with cubs) but unfortunately could not get close enough for good photos.
