overview

Hluhluwe River Lodge is hidden away in an enormous, rambling indigenous garden in Northern KwaZulu Natal. The lodge prides itself on its casual, family atmosphere where you can easily relax away from fellow guests, either on your private deck or around the swimming pool tucked away in the garden.

There is no chance of being bored, as the lodge offers game drives in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi game reserve each morning and late afternoon, bird watching, river cruises, mountain biking, horse riding and quad biking, as well as guided tours of the area. Explore Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, Mkuze Game Reserve, Cape Vidal or the World Heritage Site of Lake St Lucia, all within an hour's drive of Hluhluwe River Lodge.

Hluhluwe River Lodge uses local and organic produce to create their meals including excellent venison from the area. A carefully selected range of South African wines are also available.

Enquire about private dinners on your deck surrounded by the forest.

Standard Room

Hidden in the indigenous forest at Hluhluwe River Lodge are 12 spacious, air-conditioned chalets. The thatched A-frame chalets have large glass doors leading onto a private wooden deck, all with intriguing views of the tangled forest.

Traveller Reviews

  • We had such a wonderful time. It was the best vacation ever - almost surreal! I still can't believe we were so close to such marvellous animals! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the days in South Africa. The accommodations were great too. I thought each reserve was better than the prior. The lodging was great too. The best food was at Tanda Tula, Hluhluwe River Lodge and Jatinga.
