Kurland is situated in green pastures in the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains on a beautifully lush private estate. Its grand Cape Dutch buildings are tastefully furnished with antiques and original oil paintings. Set your own pace at this idyllic hotel, part of Relais & Châteaux and featuring its own polo club.

Spend a day at the Polo Pavilion - complete with a restaurant, bar and children's playroom where you can watch players of international standing compete.

Join the action with the assistance of Kurland's resident polo professionals and enjoy a horse ride on the estate's winding network of roads through the forests and pastures.

Alternatively, you can enjoy a treatment at the estate's health spa.

Children of all ages are welcome at Kurland. Tennis, boating, horse riding, cycling, a games room and a specially constructed swimming pool will keep them entertained. Trained nannies are also available.

Go walking, running and hiking on the estate or head out on a mountain bike or quad bike. Play a round of tennis or go for a picnic on the beautiful estate, followed by a cocktail at the pavilion bar.

Dining

Start your day off with locally sourced organic, seasonal and fresh produce. Think bowls of juicy ripe mangoes and strawberries with thick natural yoghurt and honey from hives along the Garden Route, followed by omelettes prepared using farm-fresh eggs and homemade cheese.

Enjoy lunch at one of the many excellent restaurants on the Garden Route.

Sip on pre-dinner drinks in the main homestead before dining on delicious delights such as freshly caught line fish, large Cape lobsters, mussels and oysters for dinner.

Dinner can be enjoyed in a location of your choice - in the library, on the veranda, beside the pool, in the courtyard, at the chef's table, in the rose garden or on your private terrace.

Luxury Room

There are 4 Luxury Paddocks Suites which are located in the gardens, close to the main homestead. These suites are uniquely decorated with pastel or African themes, and feature a fireplace and sitting area with cosy oversized chairs.

These suites offer views over the pool area while the large bathroom - featuring a shower, bath and reclining chaise - overlooks the private courtyard and flowing water feature.

Other Room Types

Kurland also features two Elegant Suites, situated closer to the main homestead. Both suites feature spacious bathrooms, sitting areas, cosy fireplaces and exclusive patios. These suites feature twin double beds, but the romantic Toile room may be made into a king-sized bed, and also offers a private dressing room. These two suites are ideal for groups as they are inter-leading.

For something more opulent and lavish, there are two Superior Paddock suites which offer a more secluded and tranquil setting. The bathroom opens onto a private courtyard, with a soothing water feature, and the main part of the suite opens onto the pool terrace. There is a also a charming loft room that is en suite, offers satellite TV, and can sleep up to four guests - perfect for families.

There is a dedicated Honeymoon Suite with a romantic Victorian canopy bed, clawed bath and French antiques - perfect for a romantic getaway.

Kurland's Luxury Rose Garden Suites offer a Victorian-inspired, classic experience with pastel colours, a king-sized 4-poster bed, and a spacious open plan bathroom.
