The Phantom Forest tree house suites sit beneath a canopy of Afromontane forest in Knysna. The area has a rich and diverse vegetation with forests, Cape Coastal fynbos and estuarine wetland.

The tree houses are built with emphasis placed on sustainable construction methods. They have been built with materials made from alien vegetation and have been decorated with a natural African touch.

This unique and beautiful location lends itself to a number of relaxing and interesting activities. You can explore the area on forest walks, canoe up the Knysna river, or simply relax in the pool while you take in the scenery.

Phantom Forest's facilities are designed to enhance your relaxing experience. The Body Boma offers a range of stress-relieving treatments, such as aromatherapy treatments, reflexology, reiki and Swedish massages. You can unwind in the Bubble Barrel, a forest jacuzzi.

Traveller Reviews

  • Phantom Forest - I loved it! The rooms were lovely, the food was excellent, and I really loved the bathrooms. They offered many free activities like canoeing, forest walks and would arrange paid activities. We opted to go off on our own. The staff were very nice.

  • We stayed in a VERY interesting location near Knysna, Phantom Forest, which also provided us with an opportunity to commune with nature and at the same time enjoy fabulous top-chef-type food. It was great.

    Ann Hirst-Smith, January 2011
  • The drive and directions to Knysna-Phantom Forest was outstanding, thank you. Phantom Forest was amazing, considering it had no T.V. but the food, and personal touch was always above margin.

    Gaurav Varma, May 2009
  • Phantom Forest was like a fairy tale - the tree suite was like a dream. The whole place is just so restful and beautiful - the food delicious, the staff so lovely. We were woken up by monkeys on our terrace and we really enjoyed Knysna.

    Nadia Jemiai, February 2009
  • It was fun - Phantom forest was like being in a fairytale, the room was amazing, the food, staff, accomodations, just perfect, we went kayaking in the river, and horse back riding on the beach.

    Laura DeHart, April 2008
  • It was so unusual, a little different and had fabulous food.

    Paula Howard, April 2008
  • It was an experience but 1 night might have been sufficient for us as I guess we felt a little confined.
