overview

Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent accommodation in Botswana’s magnificent Chobe National Park. The property’s elegant architecture is informed by Moorish design, its high arches and barrel-vault ceilings create a sense of simple grandeur. All 47, air-conditioned rooms overlook the Chobe River, which supports the world’s densest population of Kalahari elephants along with large herds of buffalo and zebra.

Spend your days seeking out the Big 5, exploring the land by vehicle and the river by boat - either option promises you exciting wildlife encounters. You may even spot the rare aquatic Red Lechwe, or the indigenous Chobe Bushbuck. The abundant game supports an equally healthy population of predators, including large resident populations of lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah.

Between morning and afternoon game viewing activities, the poolside terrace is a great spot to unwind. Celebrate the sunset with a river cruise or cocktails in the lounge. After dinner, enjoy a game of billiards in the colonial-style cigar bar, or a night cap from the complimentary mini bar, sipped on your private balcony overlooking the moonlit river.

Traveller Reviews

  • Our favorite place was Chobe Game Lodge as the lodge there is just gorgeous! Everything was perfect. The game drives were full of animal sightings with knowledgeable guides to tell us all about them. The food was fantastic with a breakfast buffet and cooked to order meals as well. Lunch was served on the boardwalk so we could watch the elephants along the riverside, and dinner was by candle light with about seven choices of entrees to choose from. The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice. I can't say enough good things about this place and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

  • During our last lunch there, the restaurant manager came over and thanked us for staying at Chobe Game Lodge and invited us to a "secret" dinner. When we showed up at the restaurant that evening, we were guided to one of the beautiful decks along the river. The pathway and boardwalk to the deck were lighted by luminaries. Set on the deck was a table for two set with a huge candelabra. We were the only people out there. It was a beautiful clear night, all the stars were out, our meal was delicious (as always) and the only background noise we could here was the splashing and grunting of hippos and elephants. A PERFECT ending to a PERFECT vacation.

  • The management team at Chobe especially Maggie was great, She went out of her way to locate and return to me a file of documents I forgot on one of the transfer vehicles.

  • Chobe Game Lodge was a real treat. We really enjoyed our room with a private pool. We saw more elephants on the 20 minute drive from the Park entrance to the lodge than we had seen in our entire life. We also were fortunate to get to see a large pack of African Wild Dogs on two occasions. Very well run, beautiful lodge. We'd definitely return to the Chobe Game Lodge!

  • Chobe Game Lodge was outstanding : our guide Modibu and Maggie (Guest Relations Manager) were very welcoming and competent.

  • It was a little off season as you know in Chobe, but still good - it would have been better if the guides could drive off the road. The service in Chobe was really good.

  • We also enjoyed both the Chobe Game lodge and the Savanna Lodge. It was fun to be able to spend some time at both places.

  • Chobe, even before we arrived we were awed by the nature of Chobe National Park. We were very pleasantly surprised by the Chobe Game Lodge, situated perfectly, and we received a very warm welcome. All the staff were fantastic, genuinely friendly, happy and knowledgable. The rooms were amazing, and the food was very good. The game drives and boat cruises were amazing; the scenery was very beautiful, and we saw a lot of great animals. The guides were also very kind, knowledgable, had good tracking skills and had a good sense of humour. Chobe very much exceeded our wildest expectations.

  • Moremi: our expectations were of course higher after having been to Chobe Game Lodge, and Camp Moremi didn't disappoint: again a warm welcome, good tents, amazing staff. As with Chobe, the food at Moremi was also very good. The concern for the safety of the guests, for instance: walking guests home to their tents between dusk and dawn, also made us feel very safe (this also goes for Chobe). Sleeping in the tents gave an extra dimension to our travel, as in going to sleep with the sounds of the Delta (including baboons and hippos), and we also enjoyed it (and didn't loose to much sleep :)). The surroundings, both land and water, were great, and we've been very, very lucky to see so many animals (lions, leopards, cheetah and wild dogs, we've seen them all), which was also due to our fantastic guide. All in all: an amazing experience.
