overview

Singita Boulders Lodge is set in the exclusive Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve on the banks of the Sand River. Together with its neighbour, the famous Kruger National Park, Sabi offers 2.7-million hectares of fence-less, protected wilderness. Game roams freely between the two reserves, forming one of Africa’s most bio-diverse wildlife populations.

Sunrise and sunset game drives with professional rangers and skilled Shangaan trackers ensure close encounters with the Big 5. The Reserve is particularly famous for its leopards and boasts an unrivalled record for the regularity and quality of sightings.

The Lodge is sensitively designed to make the most of its tranquil setting. Should you tire of the spa or lazing beside your private plunge pool, guided nature walks and visits to a local village offer more active ways to unwind. The close of each thrilling day brings you home to Singita’s famous fine dining and the exceptional Boulders’ wine cellar.

Facilities

African afternoons are designed for rest and relaxation: recline beside your plunge pool or pamper your senses with a wellness treatment. Singita’s Health Consultant is on hand to arrange a massage treatment on your suite's private deck or in the spa, while the gym provides a unique vista for your workout. The Lodge offers a comfortable communal lounge under thatch, which overlooks a picturesque pond and invites convivial conversation between guests.

However you spend the siesta period, a late afternoon game drive tempts you back into the wilderness to witness the glorious closing of the day, and the thrill of a spot-lit night drive back to the Lodge. Each game drive adds zest to your anecdotes, shared over pre-dinner drinks with your fellow adventurers in the open-air boma. Singita’s fine dining combined with the Boulders’ exceptional wine cellar completes each day with a romantic, candlelit dinner under the stars.

Dining

Indulge in a fusion of contemporary African cuisine and modern European delicacies. The chef prepares African-inspired dishes with gourmet flair, such as chermoula-marinated tiger prawns with a delicate avocado salsa and juicy ostrich fillet with a cinnamon espresso jus.

Meals may be paired with exceptional South African wines from the liberal selection in the enticing Boulders’ cellar. The choice of dining venue is yours: enjoy a bush breakfast beneath the Marula trees, a star-lit dinner alongside the boma fire, or a candle-lit dinner on your private deck.

Luxury Suite

Boulders is tastefully decorated in elegant neutrals and gorgeous African textures. The architecture is best described as organic - the Lodge seems to have sprung forth from the wilderness around it. Your suite is spacious with superb views from the front-facing glass wall. This barely-there division between you and the wilderness beyond opens onto your private viewing deck, complete with a plunge pool and enticing loungers.

Accommodations are limited to 12 Luxury Suites, all overlooking the beautiful Sand River. These spacious suites feature king-sized beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and a comfortable living area. A special highlight is the glass-fronted bathroom, where you can relax in a huge ball-and-claw tub, looking out over the wilderness.

The service is thoughtful and discrete, with staff ensuring that a welcoming fire is lit in your stone fireplace on chilly evenings. They will also prepare a luxurious bubble bath ready for your return from the evening game drive.

Traveller Reviews

  • No wonder this makes every top of the top travel list. Every aspect was perfection - the property! The guides! the wildlife!!!!! The food and wine! We were blown away. The attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff, with surprises every day made us feel like honored guests. I long to go back. We saw the Big 5 on the first afternoon and it just never stopped. We had a fantastic wine tasting that taught us so much about SA wines. And we loved a surprise tasting dinner in the bush illuminated by a hundred candles with the most glorious food. Unfortunately, I must have had a little too much fun, as I lost my camera that night and now suspect that a cheeky baboon is taking shots of his friends. The staff are superlative in every way, from the maids to the manager, Andrew. If I could design heaven, it would be Singita Boulders!

  • Boulders was absolutely heaven. Our room was fabulous and it is one place I would love to return to one day.

  • Singita Boulders. Yes, well this lodge was impressive. The styling was really to our taste. The food and wine were exceptional. We were also fortunate the other two couples in the jeep were friendly and enthusiastic. Our guide Lisa and tracker Solomon were a great team. We were fortunate to see everything that we did. And really appreciate the enthusiasm and knowledge shown by Lisa. We enjoyed the opportunity to mountain bike and liked the fact the lodge moved the evening meal to different locations.

  • Singita Boulders was wonderful as I am sure that you know. Our accommodations were beautiful and everyone was very welcoming and accommodating. We loved being there and seeing the animals. Our next stop wes Lebombo. We loved it there. Even though the room was nicer at Boulders. The level of service and the food and the animal viewing were superior at Lebombo. But all told, It was a wonderful time and we cannot thank you enough. We will definitely recommend you to our friends and relatives. It definitely exceeded our expectations.

  • HATS OFF TO YOU!!!! The entire trip went without a hiccup!! Thank you so much for your assistance in putting together a vacation of a lifetime for my husband and me!!! We keep telling ourselves that it will be very difficult to "top off/beat" this vacation. The places, properties, people, etc, well exceeded our expectations. I must say that the friendliness of the African people and their genuine hospitality truly impacted us!! Every property we stayed at and every place we visited, we were treated with such professionalism, kindness, and outstanding hospitality. We felt like Royalty especially at the Royal Livingstone, Singita Boulders (What an amazing place!!!!) , and Azura!

  • We had such a wonderful time and thank you for all your help. Singita was amazing from service to the actual resort. Everything was perfect. Despite the high price, I think it is money well spent.

  • Yes the best was left to the last. Words are difficult to find to clearly express our views. Everything about our stay at Singita Boulders Lodge was outstanding. It was a very difficult departure as you just didn't want it to end. Although we had heard lots about safari stays, you have to be there and experience it yourself to fully understand the sights and the emotions you feel. We had three male lions stroll past our vehicle, literally 2 feet fro where we were sitting. How do you describe that experience. We saw the big 5 and we saw a lot of different animals and birds. We saw herds of animals, Parked the vehicle in the middle of a pride of lions (twice). Although it gave us some anxious moments, it's something that we will never forget.. The facilities in our accomodation and the views especially were out of this world. Everything was so well organized.

    Stephan Grace, May 2010
  • We loved Singita Boulders and can't wait to go back. It is an elegant, customer-oriented game lodge. We have traveled all over the world and have stayed in many wonderful places, and Singita Boulders ranks at the top of our list.

    Dorothy Berry, January 2010
  • I would have to say that Singita was by far the best part of our trip. That place is amazing and truly an experience you can only realize once you are there.

    Dave Hirsch, November 2009
  • We were absolutely blown away here. The service, the animal viewing, the room, the food, the wine, everything was just so absolutely amazing. We actually had lower expectations for animal viewing here, but we did see the big 5 within the first few drives. They surprised us with a special dinner in our room, and surprised again with a special dinner out on the runway. The wine tasting was also great. I can see how only 3 nights would have been sufficient since by the 4th day we had already seen most of the animals, but we were just so happy here.
