Thornybush was a great recommendation when we said we'd like to visit the Kruger area in addition to Botswana. Like all the lodges, it was beautiful, the food great and the couple that were managing it very pleasant and informative. At some points, particularly when you encounter a fence on the private reserve it imparts a sense of the place being a glorified zoo. That sense quickly dissipates when you encounter lions and then cheetahs feeding on a kill they had just made. No zoo that I know of has the big cats preying on the other inhabitants. We would definitely return to Thornybush and recommend it to our friends

Our first "safari" leg, Serondella was lovely. The accommodations and small lodge was exactly what we wanted. I also liked that when a heard of elephants came to the lodge watering hole in the afternoon, that all of the staff came out excited to see them and enjoyed watching them with us.

Now, the Serondella Lodge... we just loved it! Very small and it was never full so we could almost imagine that it was our holidays house;-) Justine and Ben were great. We saw the BIG FIVE and a lot more animals. The food was greater but I think they could have prepared some different meals for the kids, as the meals they prepared were not very much kid's type. We met wondefull people there!

Thornybush in SA - amazing still. Service levels, food, ranger (Marco). So intimate - only 8 people max, and first night just the 2 of us anjd we had private game drive the next morning as well! It is fabulous.

I thought Serondella was perfect. The chalets were beautiful, the grounds were nice, and the hospitality was wonderful. People make all the difference and Marco the Ranger and Vivian the manager were knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was also great. I would definitely go back. You should put them on your "A" list.

We spent the next two nights at Serondella lodge and it was fantastic. The accomodation was great and the other facilities were equally very good. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Vegetarian foods were equally very good. Both Vivian and Marco were great and run/managed the place very well. Marco was also the ranger who drove the jeep with a tracker. He is quite knowledgeable about animals and plants. We were able to do a bush walk which we had not done in the previous lodge. They made sure we saw all the animals. Infact we caught up with some of the animals that we did not see at the previous Lodge.

The safari was great and of course we saw the big 5. The Serondella Lodge was wonderful. We were so spoiled with the lodge having a minimum number of guests. It was so nice that you really get to know the staff and the other guests; you really get the personal treatment! The meals were delicious.
