overview

Situated in one of Africa's most well-known parks, Mara Sopa Lodge lies on the eastern border of the Masai Mara overlooking some of Africa's prime game-viewing land. The reserve is home to almost all of the most coveted game, including the Big 5, as well as being the annual migration destination for massive herds. Located on the slopes of the Oloolamuita hills, the lodge offers magnificent views across the eastern reaches of the park.

Set in matured wooded gardens, Mara Sopa Lodge has an ethnic design which incorporates traditional round buildings with thatched roofs and interiors that reflect the rich Masai culture and art. The lodge offers a wide range of activities, including numerous game drives, visits to Masai manyattas, walking safaris and hot-air balloon rides that make the most of this scenic haven. After a game drive you can feel refreshed in the pool, sip on cocktails or experience an African barbeque while enjoying African Theme Nights.

Traveller Reviews

  • The lodges we stayed at were all really nice. We weren't exactly sure what to expect, but we liked every place we stayed (in particular, our rooms in the Sopa Lodges in Tanzania were great). The food and service was excellent and far exceeded our expectations.

  • Our stay at Mara Sopa was fine. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and the meals just fine for our needs. We were lucky that we had no next door neighbours as I have read so many comments about the paper-thin walls. I realise we were far from the heart of the Mara but we saw so much wildlife (elephants, lions, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, cheetah) that I think we almost approached sensory overload.

    Steven Cooper, April 2012
  • The Mara Sopa Lodge exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were comfortable, clean and the service was great. Our rooms were always readily available and conveniently located. lodges had nightly entertainment.

"The staff was extraordinarily friendly and the meals ideal for us. Bush babies appeared every evening in the bar and the hyena feedings at 10pm nightly - highly entertaining!"
