overview

Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge is an eco-lodge set in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and specialising in gorilla-trekking expeditions. Built and run on ecological principles, the lodge uses natural energy sources such as solar power and controls water consumption to reduce their environmental footprint.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park has four habituated gorilla families that live in thick, damp tropical forest. Tracking them is quite challenging but the rewards are great: home also to monkeys, chimpanzees and countless butterflies and forest birds, this pocket of primeval forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and has been designated a World Heritage Site.

Traveller Reviews

  • As for the Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge, it has a very pretty location, the staff was warm and friendly, the common rooms were well maintained, the food was good.

  • Volcanoes lodges were amazing. In fact, I think the Volcanoes lodge was the best place I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying myself at. Every need and want is taken care of and the views are more than amazing, its like a little piece of heaven there. The treks were great as well and I will happily write more soon.

"Beautiful lodge with spacious cottages - all overlooking the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Being just a few minutes away from the park makes this one of my favourite places to be when tracking one of the gorilla families in this area of Northern Bwindi."
