Situated in the heart of the Maramagambo Forest in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, Jacana Safari Lodge is built to blend in with its lush surroundings. Explore Lake Nyamusingire on a kayak trip, enjoying a picnic lunch along the way, or take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to spot wildlife, including hippo, crocodile, elephant and prolific birdlife. Game drives on the Mweya peninsula of the national park will have you searching for buffalo, elephant, warthogs, leopard, lion and antelope as the experienced rangers take you around. Explore even further and spot Africa's rare tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, or go on a forest walk.

Facilities

The Virunga Lounge is an open-plan, yet cosy place to curl up in front of the large stone fireplace on the lounging sofas. Handmade Persian carpets and soft pastel shades create a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

The Sundowner Bar is located on the lower deck and is perched over Lake Nyamusingire's edge - a wonderful place from which to watch the African sunset.

The pool area is found right next to the lake and also offers beautiful views. Here you'll also find the sauna and massage area where you can indulge in some pampering after your day's adventures.

Dining

Owing to its beautiful location and peaceful atmosphere, Jacana Safari Lodge has many scenic spots in which you can enjoy your meals. The Tembo Bar is set on the lower level and, just like the Virunga Lounge, juts out over the crater lake's emerald waters. After watching the sunset, you can tuck into your delicious, hearty meals while listening to the evening sounds of the surroundings. The Captain's Table is a floating pontoon and can be booked for private meals or sundowner drinks. This is a wonderful place from which to enjoy the lake views. Enjoy alfresco meals, chilled sundowners or early morning tea or coffee on your private balcony, served by your personal waiter.

Standard Room

The 10 freestanding, luxury chalets are tucked away within the foliage and incorporate natural elements like rock and timber.

Each chalet is each uniquely themed and designed to be spacious and comfortable. The en suite bathroom has both hot and cold running water, and the enclosed veranda, with its large windows, offers uninterrupted views of Lake Nyamusingire.
