Situated in a private cottage in the valley's olive and cedar forest, the Maasai Wellbeing Space is a well-appointed spa offering a combination of Western and local Maasai treatments.

The Saruni library, with its private collection of rare African books, offers a perfect setting to read, think and reminisce.

General Facilities

    Laundry Service
    Wi-fi available

Dining the African way is part of the Saruni experience: meals contain locally produced, organic products and the lodge chefs are always creating new and delicious combinations.

The Kuro House is the local meeting place where guests can share the day's stories and experiences after drinks around the fireplace.

Here, at a long dining table, a special dinner is served every evening but for a dining experience that is closer to the wild, you can enjoy an àl fresco bush dinner at a quiet spot under the stars while romantics will appreciate the opportunity to have a candlelit meal for two on a private veranda.

Classic Cottage

Comfort and a closeness to nature inspired the creation of Saruni's six private cottages, making a total of only 12 guests at the lodge at any time.

The views from the cottages, set in rolling hills, are sensational and to create a classic feel, rooms are warmly furnished with colonial antiques, Persian carpets and local African art pieces. Polished wooden floors complement the broad, cedar beds in each spacious bedroom while in each of the en suite bathrooms a canvas wall can be opened completely to offer an incredible yet private view for those taking a shower.

Saruni Mara also has a family villa consisting of two en suite bedrooms, a large lounge, dining area and a veranda that overlooks the Masai Mara.

For those guests who want an even more intimate experience with Africa, Saruni Mara has a tented camp that is 10km from the lodge and brings you even closer to the action without compromising on comfort and service. Just three tents are available at Saruni Wild, one of which is a family tent.

Traveller Reviews

  • Saruni Mara is a lodge in very nice settings in the green hills bordering the plain and the number of animals we saw was amazing.

    Beatrice Thiollier, February 2016
  • We saw every animal imagineable during our stay at Saruni Mara.

  • The trip to Kenya was beyond amazing and all three lodges surpassed our initial expectations we had for them. Even though they are all Saruni lodges, they each gave us a completely different experience. The really only compliant we could possibly have is that Rick and I weren't that great on getting Isabelle covered with bug repellant the first night in Samburu and she was eaten by them but James got us some bug repellant for her that worked much better than what we had with us that we used for the rest of the trip. The tracker/guides we had were fabulous with Isabelle and catered to her needs which in return made our lifes much easier ;-). The staff at all three lodges were fabulous, making sure our needs (primarly Isabelle's needs) were met, food was great and there isn't anything negative we can say about the trip at all. We have already decided that we will be making a trip back to Africa a yearly vacation after experiencing this last trip.

  • Really beautiful location, great food. There was no general manager there he was off but he was replaced by William who was professional and really nice. Our guide was good but seemed preoccupied the last day.. Maybe having a bad day I don't know.

Gisele & Kim Bijok & Dredge, March 2013
  • Saruni Camp was by far the best experience. It's small and out of the way, so you know everyone who's there wanted to be there and they share your tastes and preferences. The cocktails before and after dinner allow you to get to know the others really well, and there's alway a few of the staff and Maasai trackers that will join us for dinner, so it feels like a big family.

"Great option for a family learning holiday - learn first hand about bush skills, how to use a bow and arrow, tend to goats and learn all about the Masai culture."
