Mozambique has gained a reputation for its incredible seafood. After dinner at the Golfinho Restaurant you will see that this reputation is well founded - with buffets piled high with huge prawns, crayfish, calamari and grilled fish.

Breakfast is also a real treat with a wide selection of delicious options ranging from tropical fruit to a full English breakfast made to order.

For lunch you can wander down to Club Naval, which is situated at the activities centre next to a swimming pool and water feature. This à la carte restaurant overlooks the bay, and has an informal feel with light meals including a delicious selection of salads.

Private dining can also be arranged - there's nothing quite as romantic as dinner for two set out on a tropical beach.

Traveller Reviews

  • Anantara was gorgeous. It's hard to give it 5 out of 5 stars but it's a solid 4.5. They are lovely, and so accommodating! Tiny details are what keep it from a perfect 5 stars. The spa was incredible. We went a few times during our visit and it did not disappoint. The excursion to Paradise Island was a great recommendation. We LOVED it. Awesome snorkeling. They put flowers in our room and spelled out a birthday message to Josh with flora. Again, they are lovely and warm and we had a great time.

  • We did get the horseback riding in on Bazaruto and had a great time - thank you! We also went to Pansy Island and never wanted to leave. It was definitely one of the highlights. The order of how you arranged things was perfect. Anantara was absolutely perfect. We loved everything and were so happy to have the upgraded villa and pool.

  • We loved Anantara. The resort felt exclusive, very peaceful and quiet.

    Randi Erber, September 2015
  • We had the most amazing time at Anantara in Bazaruto. There were special surprises everywhere for us and we were spoilt to the point where we were almost considering not going home!

    Lynton Yarnell, June 2015
  • We also did enjoy Anatara Bazaruto. It was beautiful there and felt very private and secluded.

    Patrick Burke, April 2014
  • Mozambique was brilliant. The accommodation was of a very high standard - higher than expected. The resort was stunning and had a really paradise feel about it with deserted beach and so many miles to walk on the shore. We found the food to be very good

  • We had the most amazing holiday at Bazaruto! It's a long time since we've relaxed so many fun things and eaten as well! Went for a horseback rides almost every day and we snorkelled among the most colorful fish! We went dune boarding and we were on a mini-cruise to the paradisiacal island where Bob Dylan in his time wrote one of his hits - Mozambique. The flight to and from the island is an experience in itself - the green island in the blue sea! Fantastic!

    Kirsten Vium Larsen, April 2014
  • Indigo Bay Resort on Bazaruto Island was serene and beautiful. The staff was friendly. The accommodations were incredible. One simply had to open up the back door and walk a few yards to the beach. We were so amazed at just how low the low tide is. We've never seen anything quite like it. It gave us an opportunity to see the many brightly colored starfish. Most of us went scuba diving. The visibility was just fair on the first two dives. The second day, we went to the 2 mile reef and the wind was really up. The visibility was again fair to good on the first dive and the second dive was cancelled due to the wind. Plenty of sun with the temperature in the 80's. Again, the food was plentiful and delicious and the sous chef was available at each meal to describe the different dishes. The small charter flight over went very smoothly and was quite short at 15 minutes. Just FYI, we heard while there that preparations are being made to improve/renovate the property. While renovations can always be made, we didn't notice any areas that looked truly deficient except perhaps the activities center could use a refresh. Again, I would recommend without hesitation.

  • The Mozambique part was also very nice they give us a complementary : private sunset cruise, a spa treatments and private dining and also special set up in our room for our last night (flowers and bat tub filled of hot water and flowers). The food was ok and the people very nice and kind.

    Agata Meuti, August 2013
  • Indigo Bay was memorable. Moji thought the spa was first rate. Service was very good and people particularly nice. It seemed to be very nice for families. Food was very good but probably not quite at the same level of quality as the facilities. Scuba diving was very good. Overall a wonderful vacation.

"A very popular choice for families, this resort with its safe swimming waters and endless activities will keep even the busiest child happy. Our tip would be to head up to the spa at sunset for icy cold bubbles and the most magnificent sunsets. Diving and snorkelling here is fantastic and if you are lucky you may even encounter the rare dugong on one of your marine excursions!"
