Traveller Reviews

  • The Exeter River Lodge, again greeted us both by name, welcomed us to the lodge and gave us the general tour, each member of staff was introduced to us by name and likewise greeted us by ours every time they saw us, which we both felt was an incredible feat ? and added a really personal touch. Our room was amazing, gorgeous views of the river, the facilities in the room were excellent, our minibar was restocked 2 a day and they products supplied for the bathroom were divine. Our butler Ronnie couldn’t have done more for us and he had worked in conjunction with the Chef to arrange an array of gluten free treats for me at every meal, I thought I would be forgoing bread, muffins, melktert etc. but chef worked incredibly hard to ensure that I was always catered for… I really felt that they had gone to an incredible lengths to ensure that I was included and this never seemed like it was any trouble for them at all, and having stayed in 5* hotels globally this was a very new experience for me! Our ranger, Andrew had such an incredible passion for his job, he even managed to spark a fledgling interest in birds in both Damon and I, and we were only there to see the big 5 and by the end of the trip with them we actually gained an enormous amount of knowledge about other wildlife, birdlife, plants and frogs ? I couldn’t recommend him enough for personality, passion, his ability to connect with any age range we were on tour with an 85yr old couple on honeymoon, a single 40+ lady from Oz and the two of us 30 something’s and none of us could stop singing his praises. Ronny and the staff also went out of their way to arrange a surprise romantic dinner in our room, with a romantic candle lit bath (freshly poured upon return from evening game drive) on our last night, it couldn’t have been more special! The things I’d change about this holiday was perhaps my over indulgence with Chef’s amazing food!

  • Exeter was also very good, the room is beautiful and the game drive was the best we had, especially because the Ranger (Steve) and the Tracker (Jack) that were very good.

  • Exeter River Lodge was more what we were hoping for. The accommodations were excellent and the staff was so accommodating. It was clearly a little more comercial that Pondoro, but that was completely ok with us. We had one night were there was a problem with the room and they took care of it right away. We saw every animal here as well and it was awesome.

  • I really enjoyed Exeter River Lodge. The accommodation there is excellent as is the food. The ranger and tracker Craig and Martin were excellent and managed to find us fantastic game sightings. The staff as ever at an Andbeyond lodge were excellent and the service I received was first class. I seem to have got all lodges to realise that a plate of fruit is all need for lunch! The only way to survive the quality and quantity of the food!

  • This lodge was absolutely spectacular from the accommodations and views of animals from your room to the top notch food. This lodge definitely met/exceeded our expectations. We loved the game drives and got to see the Big 5 multiple times!

  • Exeter River Lodge: What can we say but FANTASTIC! The accommodations, staff, ranger, tracker, room all excellent quality. We felt like celebrities. They treated all of their guests so well. Our ranger Richard and our tracker Eric were not only wonderful at their job but you could feel their passion and they taught us so much about wildlife, flowers, birds etc. We even went on a walking safari and tracked giraffes. All staff were wonderful and kind human beings and we would highly recommend Exeter River Lodge in a flash.

    Diane Hanbury, November 2010
  • The safari was definitely the highlight of our trip and we enjoyed the personal attention the small lodge afforded. Our road transfers were all seamless. We particularly enjoyed our transfer to the safari as the driver (by the name of Doctor) shared a lot with us about the area, farming, and daily life.

    Jodi Miller, November 2010
