overview

Set on 200 acres of Lake Naivasha's southern shoreline is Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. One of Kenya's most upmarket destinations, the lodge offers the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside, National Parks and wildlife sanctuaries. Lake Naivasha is the only freshwater lake within Africa's Great Rift Valley and teems with freshwater fish, hippo and a vast array of exotic birdlife. The lake region is host to distinctive herds of plains' game and the elusive black faced colobus monkey.

Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge has panoramic views of the environs and the lake. Luxuriously appointed rooms feature spacious sunken lounges, while the upper floor rooms have their own private balcony on which to relax and view game. Explore this beautiful area with horse-riding, bird-watching, fishing, watersports, cycling, lake trips and nature trails. Crescent Island Wildlife Sanctuary, Hell's Gate and Aberdare National Parks are all within easy access of the lodge and make for enjoyable day trips.

Traveller Reviews

  • The Sopa Lodge at Lake Navaisha - very lavish and we could hear hippos just outside our room at night grazing and a 'gang' of colobus monkeys ran up and down the unit roofs and through the acacia trees late afternoon on their way somewhere through the resort. Enjoyed the local wildlife that ventured up close at the lodges very much.

  • The wonderful drive to lake Naivasha was topped up by this beautiful house we were lucky to be the only guests of for part of our stay. We have been treated like the royal family and loved every minute of it. The chef even cooked some local food for us to fulfill our desire to try local cuisine. This was excellent as well as all the other food served there. James, the local guide, took us for a night safari to the lake, boat trip and a surprise bush breakfast by the lake in the morning, as well as a drive through the conservatory before we left after lunch. Very enjoyable too. We left Kiangazi thinking we will be back one day.

"It is one of the larger resorts in the area but the children will love seeing all the animals - giraffe, antelope and monkeys! Head out on a boat ride on the lake or game drive at Nakuru from here."
