Ocean Eleven Guest House has one of the most sought-after locations in Hermanus: set on fynbos-covered cliffs overlooking Walker Bay, this elegant guesthouse is well-placed to view the whales that visit the region each year from July to November. The comfortable guesthouse lounge leads onto the extensive swimming pool terrace complete with sun loungers and a magnificent view across Walker Bay.

Walk straight from Ocean Eleven onto the cliff-top paths for a botanical stroll through fynbos and for excellent whale watching, rated as the best land-based whale watching in the world.

The whales start arriving in July and leave by November - peak season is September.

Large French doors open out onto the pool deck where breakfast is served in summer; alternatively, cooked and continental breakfasts are served in the enclosed veranda.

All places you recommended were superb and as you informed everyone we were celebrating 25 years of marriage there were all sorts of special surprises waiting for us.   • Hermanus - we loved and wished we had stayed longer - once again we had the misfortune of arriving late saturday afternoon and so the wineries were all closed which was disappointing but we went to a great restraurant in the nearby wine area and bought some excellent wines at the local wine shop. We would love to go back to Hermanus. The accomodation was fabulous the apartment was huge and the staff were really friendly. The view from our hotel was priceless. So this was a great recommendation, they also had excellent breakfast.

  • Oceans Eleven was a beautiful house. Enjoyed the room with a view of the bay and whales. We enjoyed the Hermanus area. We had limited chances to mingle with the staff and other guests because of our schedule, but everyone we did deal with was very nice and professional.
