Samburu Sopa Lodge overlooks the wildlife-rich banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River within the ancestral lands of the Samburu people, who are close relatives of the Maasai people.

Set on raised ground Samburu Sopa Lodge has panoramic views of the distant Samburu hills to one side and El Ndonyo Keri (the Samburu name for Mount Kenya) on the other.

Visit a local Samburu village to experience the local way of life and explore the park on guided game drives. Rare wildlife species like the Beisia oryx, gerenuk and Grevy's zebra can be seen here in one of Kenya's most famous wildlife areas.

Guided nature walks provide a different perspective of the wild landscape and the excellent bird life. This family-friendly lodge has a swimming pool for entertaining the children; baby-sitters and children’s meals are also available.

Facilities

The public areas are airy and spacious with views of the surrounding terrain and the waterhole in front of the lodge which often attracts wildlife.

The relaxed bar area is adjacent to the lobby and is ideal for a sundowner drink or afternoon tea.

Cool off in the large swimming pool surrounded by reclining sun loungers and the magnificent Samburu landscape.

Dining

Meals at Samburu Sopa Lodge are served in the open-sided dining room which has a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and plains.

Groups can enjoy private lunches in the shaded, outdoor barbecue are, or starlit dinners beside the swimming pool.

Standard Suite

Samburu Sopa Lodge has accommodation for 120 guests in thatched, Samburu-style cottages with en suite bathrooms. Each of the cottages contains 2 bedrooms, each with 2 queen size beds, a shower and private veranda from which to watch the passing wildlife.

Local material has been used in the construction, furnishings and interior decoration of all the rooms at Samburu Sopa Lodge. High ceilings and space ensure that the rooms are airy and comfortable.
