Set on a white beach on the north-east coast of Zanzibar, Diamonds La Gemma Dell'Est is a 5-star luxury resort designed to blend in with its surroundings and the contours of the landscape. Facilities

La Gemma Dell'Est has a wide range of resort facilities and guest services to make a stay here exceptionally comfortable.

The hotel has an in-house clinic, a boutique with pharmacy and a doctor on call, a business centre and laundry service as well as an open-air gym, floodlit tennis court, PADI dive centre and water sports centre.

Stay connected with the resort's WiFi access in the lobby or enjoy a bit of satellite television. More relaxing facilities include the Mvua African Rain Spa as well as a hair and beauty salon. Baby sitters are available on request.

Dining

The Pavilion offers indoor and outdoor restaurant dining where lavish buffets are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Special theme nights are organised on a weekly basis.

For dinner you may choose to have a pizza and salad at Coral Cove - an alfresco pizzeria on the beach - whereas the Sea Breeze a la carte restaurant specialises in seafood dishes served in a romantic atmosphere.

The Beach Grill needs little in the way of introduction - seafood meals are cooked and served right on the beach. You can enjoy a traditional cocktail at the Beach Bar or the Lobby Lounge while Cafe Moressco serves oriental snacks, tea and coffee.

The Makuti Wharf is built over the ocean and houses the Sunset Lounge and Bar, a venue offering fine cocktails and other drinks served up with live entertainment.

Deluxe Sea View Room

Diamonds La Gemma Dell'Est comprises 138 rooms set in the resort's colourful gardens. Options available are Deluxe Rooms, Suites, Club Villa Rooms and a five-bedroomed Presidential Suite.

All rooms have a terrace with sea views and standard room facilities include air-conditioning, remote control satellite TV, a room safe, mini bar, a king-size or twin bed with mosquito net and ceiling fan. The en suite bathrooms are marble tiled with double hand basins, walk-in showers and complimentary toiletries.

Other Room Types

The 23 Villa Club Rooms have a communal living room, butler service between 08:00 and 20:00 and a free laundry service while the 16 Suites have a separate living room and kitchenette.

There is also a Family Suite that has an extra bedroom.

For guests who prefer complete privacy, the 5-bedroomed Presidential Suite is ideal as it offers a personal butler service, a private pool and office plus the choice of dining on your terrace or in the villa lounge.

  • Gemma Dell Est at Zanzibar was really a beautiful place. I felt like we were living in a tropical garden with the best view over the turquise ocean. The service and food was very, very good. Since it was low season there were very few guests so even if it is a big place we hardly saw any other people.
