In the heart of Tanzania’s Katavi National Park, Chada Katavi is a stylish tented camp situated off the beaten track in a landscape of seasonal rivers, open plains and woodlands. From its elevated vantage point, the lodge is perfectly positioned for panoramic views over the Chada plain, while the canopy of acacias, kigelias and tamarinds are a popular source of shade and food for wildlife.

Go on thrilling game drives in open-air vehicles or explore the area on guided walking safaris. For an authentic safari experience, go fly-camping for the night under the stars, or simply enjoy soaking it all up from your tent veranda.

Facilities

There is a multitude of wildlife in the valleys, forests and plains, most notably, the impressive concentrations of hippo and crocodile, as well as the last great herds of buffalo in East Africa.

Choose from game drives in open 4-wheel drive vehicles; walking safaris accompanied by an armed guide; fly-camping for the night under the stars, or simply enjoy soaking it all up from your tent veranda.

Please note that the camp only accommodates children over the age of 8.

Dining

Lavish picnic breakfasts, brunches and lunches are laid out under shady trees awaiting your return from the morning's game viewing. Dinner time at Chada Katavi is a simple yet elegant affair. Guests dine together at the long table – perfect for sharing stories of the day’s sightings.

Standard Room

Chada Katavi offers six spacious walk-in tents, each with two twin beds or a double bed, with crisp, white Egyptian cotton and fine furnishings.

Each tent has a private bathroom with safari toilets, and bucket showers behind each tent with ample piping-hot water. The bathrooms also feature washstands, with pitchers of hot and cold water set in front of each tent.
