overview

Hippo Hollow is a stylish lodge situated just outside Hazyview, near the Kruger National Park. Offering an 'Out of Africa' experience, this thatched lodge is tucked away in beautiful indigenous gardens on the banks of the Sabie River, where pods of hippo are often seen.

Laze in the lush gardens in a hammock or beside one of two large swimming pools and watch the wildlife on the river banks. The Kruger National Park is a mere 10km away, and you can choose to join on morning and evening game drives, or self-drive through this renowned reserve. The friendly staff can assist you with arranging other activities in the area, such as golf, horse-riding, elephant interactions, rafting, fishing, or even a scenic helicopter flight. For a night of culture, enjoy a Shangaan dance and buffet in the bush.

Traveller Reviews

  • This was a different experience again and whilst not in quite the same class as the lodges, I certainly would have no hesitation in recommending them. Our room had been upgraded to a self contained chalet - so we had plenty of room to spread out. We had a view over the Sabi River which was also very nice.

  • We did the Panorama driving tour, including Berlin Falls, the Potholes, and Three Rondawells. We took a two hour horse back ride the second day.
