The gracious colonial architecture of Sugar Beach Resort recalls the warm family atmosphere of a traditional Franco-Mauritian plantation, and you're invited to step back in time to an era of unhurried living and stylish indulgence. There are a number of watersports offered free of charge at Sugar Beach: you can head out onto the warm Indian Ocean on glass-bottomed boats, sea kayaks, laser sails and paddle boats, or choose to go snorkelling, wind surfing or sailing.

Sunset cruises, big-game fishing, parasailing and water skiing are also available at an additional cost. Mauritius is a diver's paradise that's perfect for both beginners and experienced divers, and a PADI centre is located at Sugar Beach to help make it all happen. For those feeling less active, Sugar Beach Resort has a spa and beauty centre which offers facials, massages, reflexology and hairdressing; alternatively, you can just work on your suntan next to the swimming pool or on the long stretch of sandy white beach.

Facilities

At Sugar Beach there are numerous watersports on offer from kayaking and sailing to water skiing and big-game fishing, or you can just laze next to one of the two swimming pools. The main pool is enormous and has a dedicated kids corner while the smaller South Pool offers a quieter respite.

Apart from watersports, Sugar Beach also has six floodlit tennis courts plus facilities for table tennis, badminton, volleyball, mini-football, bocciball and a Sports Bar with a pool table and video games - more than enough to keep active adults and kids entertained!

Golf can also be organised at a nearby course at preferential rates. The Aura Spa and Fitness Centre at Sugar Beach offers indulgent therapies, a Hammam, hair and beauty treatments as well as a fully equipped gym.

It's an ideal family destination: the Sun Kids Club caters for children aged between 2 and 11 and will entertain and take care of your young ones while you enjoy your holiday. Teenagers are also well catered for by @Sungeneration which organises activities, excursions and social get-togethers.

Dining

Sugar Beach Resort offers a variety of dining options but the main Mon Plaisir Restaurant is a popular venue to start your day with a vast breakfast buffet and end it off with live cooking demonstrations and themed buffet dinners.

Alternatively, you can dine on delicious seafood for lunch and dinner at Tides Restaurant, set right on the beach, or you may want to enjoy light lunches, delicious pizzas and fine Mediterranean cuisine at Citronella’s Café.

For something different, pop over to romantic Paul & Virginie Restaurant at neighbouring La Pirogue Resort or simply have a quiet meal in the privacy of your room.

Sugar Beach Resort has luxurious living quarters in both the elegant manor house and the secluded garden and beach villas that open out onto private shaded balconies or patios.

Other Room Types

Some of the Rooms have two queen-size beds, ideal for a family with children, and cots are also available. However, it is also possible to book connecting rooms. To guarantee spacious accommodation that is only a footstep or two away from the beach, the Villa Suites at Sugar Resort provide a separate living area that also opens onto a private patio with views of the Indian Ocean.

  • Mauritius is truly Paradise, we really liked Sugar Beach. We will need to go back. Diving was fun and the dive shop is really nice. Even though they were very busy, they gave us all the attention we needed. We had extra practices and all we needed to make sure was that we all get certified, which we did. The underwater world is really nice there, liked it more than Zanzibar. Food was excellent just had way too much. A human can not eat that much, ok, I do not need to try everything, but they all looked so interesting :)
