Facilities

In addition to the Bistro, which is open exclusively for the Hotel’s residents and their guests, spend time enjoying the rotating art and photography exhibition, curled up with a book in the library, or lazing on a sun-drenched lounger at the pool. For more active pursuits, try the nearby gym or park.

Adjacent to the Hotel property is a Planet Fitness Gym, available to guests for a nominal charge. Known as a “mega club” this state-of-the-art facility offers a heated indoor pool, an abundance of fitness equipment and numerous classes. There are also plenty of personal trainers on hand to assist you.

Across the road from the Hotel is the recently upgraded James Gray Park. Named after early Johannesburg historians, James and Ethel Gray, the Park was originally established as a bird sanctuary. Thanks to the Sandspruit River flowing through its 36-hectares, a rich abundance of birdlife still thrives there. Neat paths meander between rolling lawns and banks of indigenous vegetation, providing a delightful escape from the bustle of the city.

Dining

The Bistro is an understated and sophisticated restaurant open exclusively to hotel residents and their guests. Light and airy architecture combines with a muted decor palette and playful touches to give the restaurant a very pleasant ambience. A bank of large, framed windows reveals peaceful views over the pool and landscaped gardens.

Enjoy breakfasts, light lunches and à la carte dinners paired with the Sommelier’s superb wine selection. Head chef, Greg Jardim, regularly changes the menu to take advantage of seasonal ingredients and the produce of his kitchen garden. Jardim’s guiding philosophy is flavour and simplicity.

Be sure to enjoy a pre- or post-dinner tipple in the Bistro’s champagne bar, with its inviting deep leather couches and walk-in wine cellar.

Garden Room

The Hotel offers an exclusive 16 rooms and suites located in the original residence and garden annexes. The dominant architecture is light, spacious and airy, its chic simplicity carried through in the uncluttered and elegant decor.

There are four Garden Rooms per annex, each overlooking the lush gardens. Your room features a king-sized bed, full en suite bathroom, separate work and relaxation areas, and a private patio or balcony.

House Rooms are located in the original, 1950s residential home and have been recently renovated. One of these chic spaces offers a separate guestroom, ideal for use as either a nursery room or study.

Garden Suites are extremely spacious at an average 60m2 and feature open-plan bedrooms, large bathrooms and separate living areas. Quirky decor touches include a hanging pod chair and, naturally, these suites enjoy either beautiful views from their private patios or the advantages of a private garden.

  • The Peech hotel was of a very high standard and a good choice. all the transfers and schedules went remarkably well. There was always someone there to meet us or to be handed over to. A credit to you and the contractors involved.

  • The Peech Hotel was fabulous - so peaceful and really well set out. The restaurant did great food, and the staff were fantastic. They helped us organise a car to take us to the Apartheid Museum which was such a thought provoking experience.

  • Peech Hotel - we loved it! On hindset we should have stayed there the entire time we were in Joburg. I vote they have the most comfortable bed among all the places we stayed during our trip. The hotel manager on duty greeted us and she was extremely helpful. When discussing our airport transfer for our flight home, she volunterred to give me a late check out when she found out that my flight was at 5pm wheras my parents flight was at 12pm so as to ensure that I was comfortable after my parents left earlier. I appreciate her thoughtfulness as she took the initiative to look out for me. I declined as I wanted to check out the stores before I fly out. She then offered to hold my luggage and to send it with the driver that she arranged for my airport transfer so I do not need to rush back to the hotel after shoping and be able to go straight to the airport. Her planning and execution was flawless. I wish I took down her name! Please feel free to pass on my feedback to Mr Peech. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

  • Peech Hotel in J'burg was good but we really only stopped over there so didn't have a lot of interaction with them. The staff were friendly and helpful.

    Claire Kitching, January 2010
  • A PEECH of a find. Well signposted and positioned (close to the shops and restaurants of Melrose Arch). The rooms were VERY nice and it did not have the feel of a city hotel. A bonus is the Bistro which is great if you do not want to go out to eat and it seemed popular with the locals.

    Susan Neill, December 2009
  • One of the finest boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff was exceedingly good, and the food top notch. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone staying in Joburg, especially given its very handy location.
