Situated in area only recently made accessible to the public, Lugenda Wilderness Camp is in one of the most remote areas of northern Mozambique. This secluded wilderness camp is shaded miombo forest and offers an intimate and personalised stay on the banks of the Lugenda River.

Lugenda Wilderness is located in the greater Niassa National Reserve, a huge and untamed reserve approximately twice the size of the Kruger National Park. Enjoy both game drives and walks, accompanied by a qualified guide. Commonly sighted species include elephant, buffalo, zebra, lion and leopard. The area is also home to over 370 bird species including a number of raptors.

Spend your leisure time at Lugenda Wilderness Camp in the timber and thatch central guest area which provides a shady retreat from the African heat and a bar serving ice cold drinks.

The pool looks onto the river is the perfect spot to spend some time reading through books on the birds and rare wildlife of the area.

Dining

Meals at Lugenda Wilderness Camp are fresh and plentiful. Begin each day with muffins and coffee on sunrise walks or game drives. Lunches and high teas can be slowly savoured in the comfort of the central dining area, while dinner is enjoyed near the riverbed or in the boma, and is complemented by a selection of fine wines.

Luxury Tent

There are eight luxury tents privately situated under fig trees and sheltered by miombo forest.

Each individual East-African-styled tent features a patio with views onto the banks of the Lugenda River. In addition, each tented suite has a king-size bed, personal safe, ceiling fans, and an en suite bathroom which has a bath and shower, as well as double basins.
