Situated in the malaria-free reserve of Madikwe, the Royal Madikwe is a small and private safari camp which guarantees exclusive use of the camp for your family or small group. The spacious, thatched lodge is luxuriously decorated with natural elements such as wood and stone, as well as tasteful African elements. 

The lounge, dining room and well-appointed library lead to broad elevated decks that overlook the well-frequented waterhole. Search each morning and at dusk for the spectacular variety of wildlife with your expert ranger before spending the hottest part of the day lazing around the lodge's swimming pool or your private plunge pool - preferably with a drink from the indoor or outdoor bar. 

Royal Madikwe is one of the few game lodges that welcomes children of all ages, offering an environment where they can feel comfortable (there's a kids playroom in the lodge with fun and educational toys and games) as well as learn about their natural surroundings.

Enjoy a good book from the library as you sit out on the upper viewing deck spotting the wildlife that come to the water hole for a drink.

Cool off during the day in the lodge's swimming pool, relaxing in the outside sitting area, or on the outside veranda as you gaze out on the waterhole and stunning landscape in the distance.

Sit out by the boma in the evening with a drink from the outdoor bar as you look up at the night sky. Get a closer look to the stars above with the lodge's GPRS telescope.

Dining

From a well timed light breakfast in the bush to a substantial brunch and imaginative high tea, you'll be kept well fed by the willing staff at Royal Madikwe. Using only the finest ingredients, they create some very sophisticated, yet wholesome cuisine. Dinner is a far more elegant affair with beautifully presented and delicious meals served under the African night sky, overlooking the waterhole or in the stylish dining room. Each African inspired dish is accompanied by the best South African wines from the lodge cellar.

Luxury Suite

The Royal Madikwe has four Luxury Suites, a Luxury Royal Suite, and one Family Suite. All the suites, except the Family Suite have a private viewing deck, private plunge pool, air-conditioning, as well as a fireplace for that cosy atmosphere.

The Luxury Suites are evenly spread out from the main building and consist either of a large four poster bed, or two twin beds. Both have en suite bathrooms that include an indoor and outdoor rain shower. Surrounding the plunge pool is a large veranda with seating and stunning views of the African landscape.

Other Room Types

Located at the end of the row of accommodations, the Luxury Royal Suite is a spacious retreat perfect for families. The two-storey two bedroom suite has one large double bed with a four poster bed and en suite bathroom, and a twin room with an en suite bathroom. The upstairs area has a lounge with a fireplace, library, TV area with WIFI and a music system, and access to an outside viewing deck. There is a large dining room, kitchen, and fireplaces in both bedrooms. Outside on the main level is a large veranda with a hot tub, outdoor dining area, and lounging area.

The Family Suite is situated in the upper level of the main building. The Suite consists of a large children's bedroom complete with four kid's beds and a en suite bathroom, and a luxury en suite double bedroom. There is a large play area with games and toys to keep the children entertained.
