The original camp of Londolozi, Varty Camp embraces the conservation principles of generations of the Varty and Taylor families, dedicated to providing a sanctuary for wild life. Varty Camp's central thatched living area overlooks the magnificent Sand River, where you can relax in comfort while you take in the views. The living spaces are positioned under the shade of trees, raised off the ground by wooden platforms. The camp's holistic approach to an African safari means that there are many things to keep you occupied both in camp and out in the bush.

From massages and reading a book from the library, to watching passing wildlife from the deck or swimming pool. The camp offers several different game viewing opportunities. Game drives and walking safaris guided by experienced rangers and trackers will give you the opportunity to view the Big 5, and star-gazing and bird watching is a great way to simply admire this beautiful area. While you take some time to yourself, your children will be entertained by Londolozi Cub's Programme, where they will be given the opportunity to learn about their surroundings in a fun and entertaining way.

The spacious main lodge has a choice of cosy indoor sitting areas around the fireplace and a sociable bar for sundowner gin and tonics on the deck which overlooks the river.

You can unwind with a massage at the Life Wellness Centre, release some energy at the gym, or browse around the Jon Varty Cinematography Centre.

You could do some souvenir shopping at the Living Boutique, or simply gaze out at the views of the Sand River.

A dip in the camp's large swimming pool is an excellent way to cool off after a morning out on safari.

We had a great time with our ranger.So we spent our dinners with him and stayed up late just talking to the staff. The set up at Londolozi was great. The animal viewing was great. Kenny took over 600 pictures at Londolozi. The rooms were so incorporated into nature that you felt like you were really in the bush. The private deck with plunge pool was also an added treat. I told Kenny that I felt like one of the animals that we went to see because when the sun came out, we retreated to our rooms for a nap and laid out on our decks by the plunge pool. It was so relaxing there, it was more relaxing than a beach vacation.

It was wonderful, exceptional and a superb experience. I cannot imagine what more was needed than the Varty camp in which we stayed. it was very special. However perhaps we needed one less day there - but as we had such fun, it is not significant but probably 3 days is enough driving through the bush twice a day.
