overview

Hugging the north-western tip of Manda Island, one of the many unspoilt, idyllic islands found in the Lamu Archipelago, is Manda Bay. It lies in calm waters on a long sandy protected beach. For centuries this has been a calling point for the Arab dhow traders, a safe haven where nature is allowed to take its course without the interference of the modern world, and this tranquil ambience permeates the resort.

There's something for everyone at Manda Bay. You can enjoy the comforts and the beautiful setting; relax next to the water or indulge in a massage. If you're feeling energetic there are water sports such as deep sea fishing in search of the marlin and sailfish, windsurfing, water skiing and scuba-diving to name a few, as well as cultural visits and dhow safaris.

Traveller Reviews

  • Manda was definitely my favourite, though I have to say that I am a beach lover :) The lodging was breathtaking. The activities and the sundowners were SO much fun. We got an astronomy lesson, went on a fishing trip, ate fresh sashimi that the boys caught during the day, went jetskiing, took out this amazing old wood boat for the day, went for a fly around the island and just really had so much fun.The food was great. There was plenty of time for relaxation. I would go back there in a second. In designing Manda, it seems they thought of everything. Really a beautiful place.
