Traveller Reviews

  • We were the only guests at Joy's Camp for the two nights we were there so we were spoilt :) This was probably our favourite camp for its outlook with all the accommodations overlooking the spring fed area right outside the tents. The profusion of wildlife that came close and grazed as well as frolicked was a sight to behold. The dining area overlooked the same open area of greenery and the spotlight in the evening over the lawn like area was an added bonus. The accommodation was supremely comfortable.

  • Joy's Camp in Shaba is a very well-run and luxurious camp, with great staff. BY FAR had the best game life viewable from our tent and from the restaurant, with herds of elephant and buffalo just a few feet outside our tent, which we could even observe from the comfort of our bed. The weather, though, was extremely hot while we were there, making the afternoons somewhat difficult to tolerate. There certainly are a number of unique animals in the North of Kenya at Shaba, which are worth seeing and you cannot find at Mara or Amboseli, such as the reticulated giraffe, Somali Zebra, Gertneks, amazing birdlife and several others.
