Dining

The relaxed, yet exclusive, atmosphere at Richard's is once again emphasised at mealtimes. All meals are enjoyed outside under the Kenyan night sky, except for the rare chance of a cold night when you'll be entertained in the dining room, adjacent to the cosy lounge.

Dinner is always a three course meal and the cuisine varies between African and European delicacies, giving you a taste of both worlds. Special dietary requirements can also be met on request.

Standard Tent

The six large tents that make up the camp are individually decorated and furnished in traditional African style. The entire camp enjoys 24-hour solar electricity, creating a silent and environmentally-friendly power supply.

Tents can be either double or twin, and offer ample space so that an extra bed can be added for families. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with flush toilet and heated shower. Guests can also relax in the open-air Victorian bath hidden in the forest.

Traveller Reviews

  • Richards Camp had a very open and luxurious feel, and had a much younger and more fun vibe than Cottar's. The tents and food were both far better, we felt. The downside to Richard's is that, at least while we were there, we saw very little game life in the area around the camp, much less than at Cottar's.

  • Richard's Camp was great - I was actually told I was very lucky because I saw three leopards. I spotted the first one myself in broad daylight! :) People were wanting to go on drives with me because they thought I was lucky. Val and Topper were wonderful at Richard's and I took a flight over the Mara to see the migration. That was a high-point of the trip along with seeing the leopards.

Guided walks, day and night game drives, meeting the local Masai and numerous other activities ensure that your days are full of adventure. To relax in a Victorian bath with bubbles ..... in the open! Now that is romantic!"
