The staff were superb and the game drives were good. Again its not the Sabi Sands, you drive good distances to see game, but we did see some firsts, two African wild cats fighting, an African Python, and we heard an Elephant being born very close to the lodge, a lot of noise, we saw it the next day. Good wild dogs also.

The Lodge was very special. This was the favorite place for the entire family. I was amazed my kids preferred this to Sun City. The tents were fantastic like in Botswana. The lodge was beautiful. The staff ie. local community were great! They did an excellent job, very good sevice and food. I even had a baby sitter one day for the little one. The location on the river was very good. The elephants came and we also had a lion.

Thakudu was one of the most friendly, welcoming places with great service - of course it was helped by the spectacular wild life.

Thakadu - absolutely superb, a great place to stay for our experience of Safari. 1 point I think you could make more of is the fact that it is owned and run by the local villagers, and I believe it is unique in South Africa for this. It was great to see that the money you pay does actually make a difference. All the staff were great especially our guide Patience.

I did not know this, but found it out, the river lodge is community owned. Once, we found this out, it made everything perfect! Giving back to the community is always important and it made the place even more special. Thanks for choosing this one, as it FELT better in the end.

Regarding the safari.....everything was perfect from beginning to end. We saw loads of animals (lions, elephants, rhino, hippos, giraffes, zebra and much more) and it really is addictive going out and trying to spot them! We were sad to leave in the end. Our guide (she was called Patience) was fantastic! The lodge itself was gorgeous......we felt very spoilt! The food was fab and the staff were just lovely. Also, I bumped into an old friend of mine at Thakadu! What a small world!
