The nine tents at the Chongwe River Camp are large, well-appointed Mulati tents set under thatch, with open-air en suite bathrooms.

Each tent sleeps two people on twin or king-sized beds and has a dressing area with wardrobe and full-length mirror. The bathrooms feature an outdoor shower and fittings made from natural materials found near the lodge.

Situated under a canopy of albida thorns and surrounded by cool lawns, the tents command fabulous views of the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers from their private decks.

The Albida Suite sleeps four in two spacious octagonal tents separated by a private lounge and dining area and is ideal for families travelling together. Traveller Reviews

  • I fished every day with good angling results. I only took 2 morning game drives which resulted in 2 young male lions and a female that mated repeatedly 6 feet away from the vehicle and fed on a fresh buffalo kill. Three months from now a new pride with cubs will take shape. On the 3 night drives I participated in, we saw 2 leopards, lion, a genet, five porcupines, and a crocodile that nearly swam into our 4 x 4. I also espied a pack of wild dogs feeding on an impala kill from the river while I was fishing. My visit to Chiawa Cultural Village was enjoyable and enlightening. It resulted in many good photos. On my last evening fishing, we targeted bream which the chef at Chongwe River Camp prepared for dinner - it was the best fish I've ever eaten. The constant presence of elephant in camp feeding on winter thorn fruit was a unique experience.
