Located on the largest island of Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago, this beach-side lodge comprises 40 A-frame bungalows set in lush tropical gardens. With some of the best diving and fishing to be experienced anywhere in the world, feel reinvigorated in this African paradise.

Pick from an impressive breakfast spread at the Flamingo restaurant before strolling onto the beach, which has awe-inspiring panoramic views. The boat is now loaded and you embark on a deep-sea fishing expedition. Delighted to be able to tick this off your bucket list, you hook parrot, angel and butterfly fish on your line. Back at the lodge, it is not long before you are out on the cobalt waters again, this time on a romantic dhow sunset cruise. Cocktail in hand, you make a honeymoon toast to your partner and give thanks for another heavenly day in Africa.

On your agenda the following morning is a half-day tour to the nearby coral rock island of Santa Carolina. Also known as Paradise Island – and for good reason – here you enjoy a delicious picnic lunch on one of three exquisite beaches, which are regarded as the very finest on Bazaruto’s five islands. With unspoilt coral reefs in shallow waters a short distance from the shore, the snorkelling and diving here is unbelievable. Swimming with vast shoals of fish around the island is a remarkable experience. Indulge in a massage at the spa before relishing a drink at the Sunset Bar as the last of the dusk light dips behind the horizon. Wrap up the day’s excitement at dinner while - faintly visible through the blanket of darkness - the ocean is now heard rather than seen, hypnotically ebbing and flowing...

  • Explore the largest island of the Bazaruto Archipelago
  • Some of the world’s best diving & angling
  • Fully equipped spa & Wi-Fi access
  • Half & full-day trips to Paradise Island

An open-plan design and extensive communal areas allow for a sociable guest experience. Comfortable sitting areas, a small library and local art make the lodge feel like your second home. Plunge into the vast swimming pool at its heart or the never-ending waters of the Indian Ocean. Fairytale walks on the beach are idyllic or take a trip to the lighthouse at the tip of the island. First-class diving, shore and deep-sea fishing as well as a host of other water sports are right on your doorstep. Take your relaxation to its maximum at the lodge’s spa offering massages and the full range of beauty treatments. Wi-Fi access means you do not have to completely lose touch with the world.

Traveller Reviews

  • Bazaruto Lodge was absolutely superb, accommodation was lovely, directly on the beach. The daily excursions from the island are well worth booking upon arrival at the Lodge, very good value for money and seeing Dugongs, Giant Mantas will be an unforgettable experience The island is a beautiful unspoilt place and definitely lived up to our expectations.

  • The Bazaruto Lodge was great. Verry friendly stuff, good trainees…. helpfull and all time ready to serve. Great Food and accommodation in beautiful bungalows direct on the beach. In total a really good experience which I can recommend without any restriction.

  • The flight to Bazaruto was on time and when we arrived to the hotel they gave us a superior room (or chalet, actually) instead of normal (what we had booked)! Very good service I would say! :) The chalet was great and the beach was perfect for me. I mean by that it was full of birds every time when there was a lowtide. I woke up at 5 am and went to see some birds. Wonderful! The food was marvellous (just fished prawns grilled in open fire etc.) Everything went well on our way back home also.

    Timo Salonen, December 2010
  • Bazaruto was just what we wanted - four days of complete rest & relaxation.
