Situated on the protected north-west coast of Benguerra Island, Benguerra Lodge is sheltered by a natural acacia forest and bordered by the crystal-clear waters of Benguerra Bay. Decorated in earthy, Moroccan colours with terracotta walls and thick fabrics rich in reds and vibrant oranges, the lodge offers genuine hospitality and personalised service - all that you need to do is relax and enjoy your island holiday.

Go scuba diving and snorkelling at Two Mile Reef - an amazing underwater world of colour and form. One of the other main attractions is world-class deep-sea and saltwater fly-fishing. Alternatively, just stretch out in the shade of your thatched sala on the stunning white sandy beach, go exploring in a sea kayak, take an island tour, or jump on a boat to Pansy Island, a breeding ground for the legendary pansy shell and only exposed at low tide.

Dining

Meals at Benguerra Lodge are fresh from the sea with delicacies such as tiger prawns, crab curry and grilled crayfish. Meat dishes such as beef and lamb are also on offer. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style while dinner is a set menu; the castaway 'desert island' picnics on the north of the island are highly recommended. A sailing dhow has been turned into a colourful beach bar - the perfect spot to watch the sunset beneath whispering coconut palms.

Standard Cabana

Benguerra Lodge has 10 Casitas, two Cabanas and a luxurious villa: Villa Chibuene.

Set right on the beach are the two Cabanas - these romantic and elegant accommodations have a queen-size bed, a large en suite bathroom with separate bath, indoor and outdoor shower, and a private deck with a Jacuzzi plunge pool.

Other Room Types

The ten Casitas are set along the beach. These spacious and luxurious accommodations have a 'home away from home' feel with a comfortable open-plan lounge area, shuttered windows to keep out the midday sun and a bathroom centred round a huge, shiny copper bathtub. Each Casita has a 100m2 timber deck with a Jacuzzi plunge pool, fantastic sea views and an outdoor thatched gazebo for starlit dinners.

The two-bedroomed and very exclusive Villa Chibuene is set away from the rest of the lodge and is an excellent option for those seeking total privacy. Each room has a double bed and en suite bathroom with a copper bath and outdoor shower. A personal chef prepares all meals, which can then be enjoyed in the lounge and dining area, fitted with hand-carved mahogany furniture. The villa has a private garden, swimming pool and a thatched sala with beautiful sea views.
