Sheltered by ancient ebony trees and set on the banks of the lush Xakanaxa (pronounced ‘ka-ka-na-ka’) lagoon in the pristine wetland of the Okavango Delta, Camp Moremi provides a true ‘get away from it all’ safari experience. With only 11 East African-style safari tents (and one family tent) and located in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, Camp Moremi is ideal for those keen on ‘unplugging’ from modern communications but who still want some 21st century creature comforts.

‘Water safaris’ by boat allow you to go in search of hippo, elephants and water fowl, and are an excellent way of understanding this vast and fragile ecosystem (the water here is too deep to use mekoro). Back at Camp Moremi, tuck into their famous homemade bread at lunch and then take to your viewing deck with a book and binoculars – or to your king-sized bed for a lazy siesta.

With a beautiful setting, comfortable accommodation and attentive staff, Camp Moremi is an excellent introduction into the lifeblood of Botswana.

  • Picturesque setting on Xakanaxa lagoon
  • Sensational game viewing & birding
  • Friendly & professional hands-on staff
  • Game drives & boating
  • Swimming pool & spacious accommodation

Artfully constructed from thatch and wood, the elevated Moremi Tree Lodge is the focal point of the camp and houses the main lounge, a wildlife reference library, dining area and cocktail bar, all shaded by giant ebony trees with a deck overlooking the lagoon. A wooden walkway leads to the secluded pool area, perfect for a refreshing swim in the afternoons between game drives.

General Facilities

    Swimming Pool

The delicious early breakfast and mid-morning brunch buffets are served in the thatched boma area. A selection of fresh salads and seasonal fruits are complimented by a mouth-watering array of hot and cold dishes that change daily. Game drive hampers include snacks to be enjoyed in the wilds, and afternoon tea features a tempting choice of sweet and savoury delicacies. Candlelit dinners are served in the cosy atmosphere of the Moremi Tree Lodge, where you are serenaded by the grunts of hippos and the chirping reed frogs in the lagoon below.

Standard Tent

Camp Moremi accommodates a maximum of 24 guests in East African-style safari tents, which are individually set on raised teak platforms with a private verandah.

The tents are simply yet elegantly furnished with African teak furniture and colourful woven rugs. Large gauze windows allow cooling breezes in but keep insects out, and an electric fan keeps the air fresh and cool in the evenings.

The en suite bathrooms adjacent to the tents feature double vanities, a flush toilet, signature amenities and a blissful hot shower.

There is one family tent that has two adjoined bedrooms.

  • What stood out for us? African hospitality - everywhere we went we were so warmly received. The smiles, jokes, personal touch and attention to detail we received in all our camps/lodges was memorable. Etali, Stanley and Camp Moremi - we enjoyed ourselves at all three places. The accommodation you arranged for us everywhere was great and suited us as a family.

  • Camp Moremi was wonderful. The staff, game drives and food were fantastic. There was a fun atmosphere at Moremi that made us really love it.

  • Botswana -- All 3 camps were fabulous. Saw a lot at all three. Loved all our guides. The Desert and Delta really did such a nice job at making you feel at home. Loved how they announce dinner, introduce the staff and most nights had some singing. Very sweet. Also loved the late night with Amarula around the campfire. Leroo staff were particularly nice -- they were not very busy and had an entire production with a make believe Botwanan wedding ceremony before dinner. Very funny. There was also another couple that was traveling to the Pans and so when we asked if we could go, they let us go without an extra change (I believe there was to be a charge if you were there for only 2 days).

  • Just a quick message to say thank you for putting together such a fabulous trip for us. It surpassed all of our expectations and we have memories that will stay with us always. To watch elephants swimming and playing in the water together is just one of the things I will never forget - just magical!

  • Trip was excellent, the staff were great, the guides were great too. I highly recommend Savute, Moremi and Leroo La Tau lodge, really enjoyed the staff there. A very beautiful place. I miss it already, I will go back, especially to Savute… a dream place.

  • This was our favorite camp. It's hard to describe exactly why - but something about the whole place just felt magical! We loved our tent, the grounds, and the whole lush feel of the landscape when we went on the game drives.

  • We had some of the best animal viewing of the trip here and the Camps at Moremi, Savute and Elephant Valley were able to offer a much more personal level of service as they only small camps. Nothing seemed to be too difficult for them and as they said at Moremi, in greeting new arivals in the evening "You are with family now, come in, sit down and take off your shoes". In looking back at this part of the trip the only change we would make if we were organizing it now would be to sacrifice the smaller Elephant Valley lodge for the larger camp that is inside Chobe National Park as we had a half hour drive each way just to get into the park.

  • We all actually enjoyed Moremi Camp more as it was a real camp, we were under canvas and the staff were fantastic + there were less people/tourists. Our driver at Moremi really worked hard for us. If I had my choice again I would have definitely stayed at Moremi but possibly found a similar camp in Chobe.

  • A short flight then into the Okavango Delta to a further breathtaking Camp Moremi (and their honeymoon suite – or should I say tree?!). It was more relaxed here than Chobe with less hours in the car and not as much wildlife to see due to the land being very wet and boggy, so the only downside was the number of hours sat in the vehicle not seeing hardly any animals. We had a very knowledgeable guide however who did his best to find the animals and in the evenings, it was so wonderful to be sung to by the staff before supper! What we did find most impressive was the food at these places – lots of choice and all delicious. Not as much game on the menu as we had imagined though.

  • Lovely camp. Fantastic staff. There's certainly a sense of community here and this is the place we felt most at home and we were glad we got to spend three days here. Terrific food. Great staff choir. Very comfortable tent, it's certainly not camping as I've known it in the past. I guess this is what they call 'glamping'!

"Camp Moremi is a lovely, 4-star lodge that will offer you an affordable and comfortable stay with a great experience of the Moremi Game Reserve. The staff are one of the highlights at the lodge, especially when they sing before dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed the sunset cruise on the lagoon as well as sundowners on the deck overlooking the water."
