Dining

At Saadani, seafood is the main speciality - in particular the feasts of fresh prawns that are brought from the sea to the lodge kitchens daily. Indulge in these and many other delicious meals on the lower deck, enjoying beautiful views over the ocean and surrounds. Lunch and dinner are always thoughtfully prepared, 3-course meals and can be enjoyed on the sand island just off the coast for a romantic evening. Saadani is able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

Classic Banda

The 15 tented cottages are welcoming and cool, with wooden frames, thatched roofs and Zanzibar-styled furniture. The cottages are spacious and airy, and all offer uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean.

The nine Classic Bandas are set along the beachfront and enjoy shade from the casherina trees. Cottages can be either double or twin, with double rooms boasting skilfully carved Zanzibari king-sized beds. The en suite bathrooms have hot and cold running water, solar-heated showers and all the elegance you'll expect from a luxurious lodge.

Your private veranda is the ideal spot to enjoy early morning coffee or a lazy afternoon spent on the day bed. On warm evenings, you can request the staff to make up the day bed on the veranda for a magical night under the stars.

Other Room Types

The Maridadi Suites are situated a little away from the classic bandas and offer three individual suites and one family suite. Maridadi means 'elegant' in Swahili and the suites feature beautiful, organic design and are constructed using grass collected in the local village. The beds are more contemporary looking and made of chunky dhow wood. Each suite has an additional desk, sitting area and outdoor courtyard shower room.

The Siri Suite is ideal for romantics and honeymooners and can only be reached via a private walkway over a dry river bed. Siri means 'secret' in Swahili and the suite definitely offers ultimate privacy and minimal disturbance. In addition to the features of the other suites, the Siri also boasts a private swimming pool, outdoor shower, kitchen with personal chef, a bar and personal butler. Romantics in the Siri Suite can be collected by boat from the private beach and taken on a private excursion to the Wami River and the small coral garden, or on a private safari in the National Park.
