Mount Camdeboo is located at the foot of the Sneeuberg Mountains, the second highest mountain range in South Africa. This remote and secluded area offers breathtaking views of the Great Karoo and a truly relaxed and remote retreat. A malaria-free area, this lodge is an ideal retreat for a family holiday or post-safari wind-down.

Three immaculately restored Cape Dutch manor houses offer elegant lodgings while an additional honeymoon cottage makes for a very private stay. The accommodation is set in Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve, home to herds of antelope, mountain zebra, giraffe, rhino, cheetah and buffalo. Set out on 4X4 game drives and guided bush walks or pay a visit to nearby battlefield sites for a glimpse into the turbulent history of the area.

Facilities

Each of the three manor houses has its own full-length swimming pool with more than enough sun loungers to recline on; those staying at Pepper Tree Cottage can use the pool next to Camdeboo Manor.

Set off twice a day for a guided game drive - there's plenty of game here plus excellent birding with many endemic species.

Guided bush walks, cheetah tracking and visits to historical Boer War battle sites are also available.

Good food is an important part of the Mount Camdeboo experience and all meals are freshly prepared using herbs grown on the farm and supplies sought from neighbouring farms and specialists. A hearty breakfast kickstarts each day while delicious snacks are provided on all game drive and a decadent afternoon tea is served each day. Fine dinners are served in a variety of venues; whether beneath the African stars or in front of a roaring fireplace, the chefs at Mount Camdeboo aim to surprise and delight you. Two of the manor houses provide a self-catering option; in this case, we suggest you pre-order your supplies from Mount Camdeboo.

Luxury Suite

Mount Camdeboo offers 12 elegant double bedrooms in three beautifully restored Cape Dutch manor houses plus a honeymoon cottage.

The houses are spacious and painstakingly restored to retain their gracious colonial feel but feature the most up-to-date luxurious conveniences. Each house is equipped with air conditioning, a traditional covered veranda and a full-length swimming pool.

For the ultimate retreat, stay in the Honeymoon Suite, also known as Peppertree Cottage. Originally the gatehouse, this quaint stone cottage - complete with roaring fireplace - is the epitome of a romantic hideaway. Guests here can take their meals in the cottage or can join other guests at Mount Cambeboo, a short distance away.
