Traveller Reviews

  • The highlight of our trip was Grootbos - we loved the room, the on site activities including whale / seal / penguin watching and the social responsibility tour and wished we had left the previous hotel earlier to enjoy Grootbos to its fullest. What a treat.

  • Grootbos - another fantastic place with great food. We really liked the modern/contemporary design of the lodges and the fact that we were staying in a nature reserve. Once again all the staff were extremely helpful and all the activities well organized. We enjoyed Whale watching and I went cage diving, which really didn't live up to expectations (I think I would prefer to be in open water as opposed to cooped up in a cage!). Unfortunately, it was a very long trip with lots of waiting around on the boat etc. Apart from the cage diving trip (which isn't operated by Grootbos), we loved the place. I especially like the fact that they are training and educating local people from the shanty town to act as guides, thereby putting something back into the community.

"An absolute must for those looking for a real nature experience. The lodges are stunning and the views are like no other. The highlight for me was the food, nature drives and visiting the caves on the beach. This is a very romantic destination – definitely worth the visit!"
