Shooting Star Sea View Cottages is set on a headland on the north-east shore of the island of Zanzibar, close to a coral reef and less than an hour's drive from Zanzibar Town. The quaint lime-washed cottages overlooking the coconut palms of Kiwengwa beach are ideal for families and couples who wish to escape life's hustle and bustle for awhile.

This intimate beach lodge offers direct access to a stretch of glorious beach. Venture out to the coral reef and see the magnificent marine life it nurtures. At Shooting Star Sea View Cottages you can explore the island on a rented bicycle or shop for souvenirs in the local bazaar. A large variety of water-based activities is on offer, including scuba diving, fishing and wind surfing.

Dining

Delicious meals can be enjoyed at the Shooting Star Sea View Cottages’ open-air restaurant and bar, looking out over the gardens and ocean.

The restaurant serves a wide variety of African and international cuisine. Specialities include lobster, meat grills and smoked fish, made using traditional African recipes.

Sea View Cottage Rooms

The 10 lime-washed cottages are decorated in traditional Zanzibar style with carved wooden beds, beautifully dyed mosquito net canopies, coconut wood mirrors, and handmade teak furniture.

Rooms are air-conditioned, spacious and airy with high-beamed ceilings and large windows to make the most of the wonderful views.

Other Room Types

Four cottages, decorated in traditional Zanzibar style, are spread over two levels. Ideal for families, the ground floor has a spacious and airy double bedroom and en suite bathroom. The upper level offers a twin children's room.

Shooting Star Sea View Cottages offers two luxury suites on the hill, reached by a sandy path through the lodge. These suites have their own private gardens, ornately carved Zanzibar doors and local antiques. The ground floor has a large hallway opening to a terrace that boasts a private pool and veranda.

Just outside the luxury suites are lounge areas and a kitchen space where chefs prepare meals for you to enjoy in the privacy of your suite. Upstairs, the large bedroom catches the ocean breezes and has panoramic views of the coast.
