Traveller Reviews

  • We were very pleased to return to the Balalaika Hotel. The home feeling and the charm of this place, added to the courtesy and friendliness of personnel was the deciding factor for us to return here. Nelson in his high uniform was still there at the door to greet us, Michael at the reception was welcoming and helpful, they allowed our early check in and late check out. The hotel is built around a nice garden with a pool. Rooms are comfortable, the bathroom has good lighting, a separate shower and a tub. There is a large writing desk in the room. The restaurant offers a grand buffet for breakfast .The hotel has a colonial – country feeling to it. The location is perfect, only a few minutes walk from Nelson Mandela Square. Excellent value.

"The Balalaika is like the Good Old Faithful in Sandton. A business style hotel holding all of its old charm and candour, it rooms are comfortable, the service is great and the food is really wonderful. There isnt overly fancy about the hotel but a very good choice for a quick overnight for those travellers looking for a central location but something that wont break the bank. I really enjoying staying at the Balalaika Hotel."
