Set in Zambia's heavyweight South Luangwa National Park, Mwamba Bush Camp is situated on the banks of the Mwamba River, a tributary of the legendary and game-filled Luangwa River. Accommodating a maximum of six guests in reed and thatch chalets, this camp offers a personalised and intimate stay in prime big game country.

The camp has a rustic yet comfortable lounge, dining area and outdoor chill area, and is wonderfully peaceful. Explore the area on morning and afternoon/evening game drives: the game viewing is excellent with large numbers of resident African animals ranging from elephants to big cats. South Luangwa National Park is an ideal walking safari destination and you'll have the chance to set out on foot accompanied by your knowledgeable guide and armed scout.

Facilities

The simply designed main area is shaded by enormous ebony trees but otherwise open to the sky. The surrounding reed walls contain an incredible bar counter entwined in python vines plus a large wooden dining table and comfortable lounge area equipped with board games and reading material.

Relax in a spectacular sundowner spot set on a giant termite mound, or spend some time in the various hides that perch over the waterholes and observe the animals coming to drink.

Dining

Meals at Mwamba Bush Camp are enjoyed beneath the trees in the main area with the sounds of the wild in the background or under the thatched gazebo next to the river. Wake up to coffee and tea before embarking on your morning safari activity.

Return to camp for a full English breakfast before setting off once again into the bush. High tea procedes your afternoon activity, and you may want to enjoy a sundowner drink at the top of a large termite mound before you sit down to a three-course dinner.

Chalet

Mwamba Bush Camp accommodates a mere six guests in uniquely designed reed and thatch chalets with soaring skylights - perfect for stargazing at night. En suite is a large open-air bathroom complete with a flush toilet, hot and cold running water and a generous bucket shower.

Other Room Types

The Honeymoon Suite is set in a private corner of camp, furthest from the main areas and next to a waterhole frequented by elephants. It also features a romantic, king-size four-poster bed.
