Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Viphya Mountains, Chintheche Inn lies on the remote northern shores of Lake Malawi on extensive lawns dotted with indigenous trees. The inn is just south of Nkhata Bay on a broad sandy beach that stretches for miles and is often deserted apart from a few local fishermen.
Chintheche Inn is a wonderful place to do nothing more than lie under the shade of a thatched beach umbrella, but there is no shortage of things to do. Take a swim off the beach, make use of the lodge's snorkelling equipment or explore the lake on paddle skis or a Hobie Cat - you could even try your hand at fishing. Local guides will take you on birding excursions or hiking trails through the tropical forests, and for something different you can explore local villages on a mountain bike or visit the nearby orphanage for an enthusiastic welcome.
