Karkloof Spa is a luxury eco-lodge and spa located near Pietermaritzburg in the scenic KwaZulu Natal Midlands. Offering luxury and privacy while maintaining a ‘green’ philosophy, Karkloof is set in tranquil surrounds amongst the valleys, waterfalls and Acacias of this 3500ha reserve. Combining an authentic colonial feel with contemporary style, Karkloof offers personalised service and a serene escape.

Explore the surrounding reserve on hikes, mountain biking excursions, and game drives. In addition to varied wildlife and spectacular bird species, the reserve boasts a total of 5 waterfalls as well as breathtaking scenery to explore. The award-winning spa is the largest in Africa and is divided into four areas according to the specific treatments on offer - Wetlands, Savannah, Forest and Thai Sala.

Karkloof Spa is also known for its hydro area, which includes a flotation room and a Moroccan Rassoul. The use of the Roman bath, Kniepp pools, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna are all inclusive.

In addition to the world-class spa, the lodge’s amenities include a hair/beauty salon, laundry service, heated swimming pool, library and wine cellar.

Dining

The lodge restaurant offers meals that are freshly prepared from organic ingredients. Each meal is a culinary delight as the in-house chefs merge international and local flavours. The Greens & Teas Cafe, located in the spa area, provides healthy meals and snacks, such as seared tuna salads and banana and strawberry smoothies. If you are lounging about the lodge or on the deck, friendly staff members are on hand to whip up a cocktail, cappuccino or suggest a local or foreign wine from the cellar. Those wanting to spend a day relaxing by the rock pools can enjoy a picnic basket and refreshments prepared by the staff.

Luxury Villa

There are 16 luxury villas and 8 luxury tents with under floor heating, air conditioning, complimentary mini bars, espresso machines and internet access. Each villa and tent is designed to create a haven of privacy overlooking the beautiful valleys of the reserve.

Luxurious attention to detail is found in the double baths, heated towel rails, private outdoor showers and secluded verandas. The villas and tents are all connected to the main spa and lodge via wooden walkways.
