Basecamp Mara is located just outside the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and provides an ideal base from which to explore this classic wildlife destination. The lodge is committed to the protection and preservation of the natural environment and makes use of a variety of eco-friendly practices, including solar power and the recycling of waste materials.
Set out on day and night game drives in search of the Big 5, go on nature walks in the park with Maasai warriors and enjoy fantastic East African bird watching - there's even an opportunity for an optional hot-air balloon safari. If you don't feel so active, just relax on a hammock on your private veranda and watch as animals cross the savannah in front of you. An additional activity is to head out on a village visit to get the opportunity to learn about the local traditions and culture of the Maasai people.
