A classic tropical beach getaway, the elegant Baraza Resort and Spa is set on Bwejuu Beach in south-east Zanzibar, recently voted one of the top 30 island beaches in the world by Condé Nast.

The continuous stretch of palm trees and soft white sand provides the perfect backdrop for this resort as well as being an ideal base from which to dive the local coral reefs or explore other must-see parts of Zanzibar such as Stone Town and Jozani Forest.

Facilities

Baraza Resort and Spa has its own water sports centre situated on the beachfront. Wander down to The Water Club and choose from low tide activities such as power-kiting or snorkelling or high tide activities such as kite-surfing and kayaking.

Scuba diving is also on offer, as is access to putting greens. Frangipani Spa offers a blissful retreat away from the outside world with a lap pool playing soothing underwater music, indoor and outdoor relaxation rooms, a Sultan bath as well as a yoga and fitness centre and a tennis court.

Children between 4 and 12 will enjoy the professionally run Baraza Kids Club with its long list of activities and facilities. Babysitting services can also easily be arranged, allowing parents with young children the chance to get a bit of holiday time for themselves.

Dining

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in your stay at the Baraza Resort & Spa. The resort has a number of restaurants as well as a popular pool bar which is open for drinks and snacks. The Livingstone Terrace is an open-air restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner while the Ocean Lounge Bar and Restaurant - boasting a tandoori oven, salad bar and pizza oven - offers buffet dining with a selection of light dishes and daily specials. Buffet and table d'hote are available on alternate nights in the Sultans Dining Room. Before or after dinner, unwind and order a cocktail in the cosy Dhahab Bar & Lounge.

Ocean View Villa

Baraza Resort and Spa offers a variety of en suite accommodation options in the form of 14 one-bedroom villas, 15 two-bedroom villas and a two-bedroom Presidential Villa.

Both the one-bedroom Bahari Villas and the two-bedroom Sultans Villas offer a walk-in dressing room, a large terrace and a plunge pool.

The Bahari villas come in 'ocean front' or 'ocean view' options, while the Sultans villas have views of either the sea or the gardens.

Other Room Types

The expansive Presidential Villa has 2 master bedrooms each with its own en-suite bathroom and walk-in dressing room. A central living area offers fantastic sea views and outside you'll find a large plunge pool, a daybed, outdoor dining area and a spacious terrace. The Presidential villa also features a compact kitchenette and a separate guest toilet as well as additional accommodation for a maid or butler adjacent to the main suite.
