overview

Surrounded by red dunes, desolate mountains and gravel plains, Kulala Desert Lodge is set at the heart of the Namib Desert. The camp's main buildings have been built in a North African style and constructed entirely from clay bricks with a wrap-around veranda overlooking a waterhole and the surrounding desert scenery.

A guided excursion to the famous Sossusvlei sand dunes located nearby will give you a unique desert experience, while guided nature walks, game drives and quad bike trails around the lodge's private reserve are also offered. Cool off in the afternoons in the plunge pool or watch animals such as oryx, bat-eared fox, aardwolf, ostrich and jackal drink from the waterhole in front of the main building. One morning you could choose to go on a hot-air balloon safari where you will be served with a champagne breakfast upon landing.

Traveller Reviews

  • The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed sand dunes, petrified forest and Sesriem Canyon trips, plus quad biking.

  • The trip was really amazing, I loved it. Some of my other favourite hotels were the Olive Grove Guest House in Windhoek. It was beautifully set up and the manager, Brian, really tries to make everyone feel welcome. I also loved Mapula Lodge, and Kulala Desert Lodge. Botswana and Namibia were very organised, and we both felt very safe venturing out and exploring in the countries.

  • Kulala Desert Camp is a wonderful place. It has comfortable bungalows, very good food and very nice people. It is an easy destination for families with kids and was our top selection for food!!!
